Sigewinne Genshin Impact is one of the most charming and effective healer characters in the game. Released in Genshin Impact Version 4.7 on June 25, 2024, Sigewinne is a 5-star Hydro Bow user from Fontaine who serves as the head nurse of the Fortress of Meropide. She is a Melusine — one of the mysterious sea-creature lineage beings of Fontaine — living in human form that she adopted decades ago to protect a child she befriended. Her combat style is as gentle and methodical as her bedside manner: she fires bouncing Bolstering Bubblebalms from her specially crafted bubblegun, healing her team while dealing Hydro damage and buffing the damage of off-field skill users. She works alongside Wriothesley at the Fortress of Meropide and has a special connection to Neuvillette through their shared interaction with Sourcewater Droplets. Her best partner in combat is Furina, and together they form one of the most potent healer-buffer duos in the entire game.

Who Is Sigewinne in Genshin Impact?
Sigewinne is a Melusine, one of Fontaine’s mysterious beings descended from eldritch sea creatures. Unlike most Melusines who retain their non-human appearance, Sigewinne chose to adopt a human form long ago — a decision that was against Fontaine’s laws at the time. She made this choice to save a young child she had befriended, at a period in history when Melusines faced discrimination. Her illegal transformation resulted in her conviction and imprisonment in the Fortress of Meropide. Rather than being broken by this outcome, Sigewinne embraced life within the underwater prison facility and eventually rose to become its head nurse.
Within the huge undersea facilities of the Fortress of Meropide, Sigewinne’s infirmary is one of the few places open to all people at all times. She cares equally for every convict locked in the prison, regardless of their crime or background. Wriothesley oversees the Fortress as its Duke, and the two have a warm working relationship built on mutual respect. Sigewinne was introduced as an NPC alongside Wriothesley in earlier Fontaine content and was one of the most anticipated playable characters of the Fontaine era. Her warm, energetic personality — full of concern for others and bursting with medical enthusiasm — made her an instant fan favorite long before her playable debut. Her constellation is Caelum Medicum (meaning “healing heaven”), and her birthday is August 26.

How Sigewinne’s HP Scaling and Buff Mechanics Work
Everything Sigewinne does in combat scales off her Max HP. Her Bolstering Bubblebalm healing scales with HP. Her Convalescence stacks that buff teammates’ off-field Elemental Skill damage are calculated from her HP. Her personal damage from both Skill and Burst scales with HP. This makes her one of the most straightforward characters to optimize: pile on HP% from every source possible and everything else improves simultaneously.
Her fourth Ascension Passive — the centerpiece of her support role — gives off-field characters a bonus to their Elemental Skill damage based on how much HP Sigewinne has above 30,000. For every 1,000 HP above 30,000, off-field Elemental Skill hits deal up to 100 additional damage, capping at 3,500 bonus damage per hit when she reaches 65,000 HP. This buff lasts 10 hits and refreshes each time she uses her Skill. Characters like Furina, Fischl, Yelan, and Xingqiu all benefit substantially from this flat damage addition on their off-field Skill hits.
Reaching 65,000 HP is the hard cap for her passive buff and the target every Sigewinne build should aim for. With her signature weapon, this is achievable through artifact HP% stats alone. Without it, stacking HP% on all artifact pieces and using HP% as secondary stat on other pieces gets you close.
Sigewinne Skills and Abilities Explained
Normal Attack — Targeted Treatment
Sigewinne fires up to 3 arrows in her standard state. Her Charged Attack in Aiming Mode charges up Hydro energy and fires Mini-Stration Bubbles at targets when fully charged. Her Plunging Attack deals AoE damage on landing. In practice, Sigewinne’s Normal Attacks are almost never used in her support role — she spends minimal time on-field and uses her Skill and Burst, then swaps out. Do not level this talent.
Elemental Skill — Rebound Hydrotherapy
This is Sigewinne’s most important ability. She pulls out her specially made Fortress of Meropide bubblegun and blows a Bolstering Bubblebalm. This bubble bounces between nearby opponents, dealing AoE Hydro damage based on her Max HP each time it hits, and healing all party members other than Sigewinne herself when it bounces. When the bubbles finally disappear, Sigewinne herself is healed for a portion of her Max HP.
After using her Skill, Sigewinne gains the Semi-Strict Bedrest effect for 18 seconds: she gets 8% Hydro DMG Bonus and 10 stacks of Convalescence. Each Convalescence stack increases the DMG of the active character’s off-field Elemental Skill hits — this is the numerical manifestation of her fourth Ascension Passive’s buff, with stacks consumed one at a time by each off-field hit from teammates like Furina or Fischl. Level this talent first.
Sigewinne can also absorb up to 2 Sourcewater Droplets within range when using her Skill — the same Droplets that Neuvillette uses to speed up his Charged Attack. This is why Sigewinne is specifically called out as a natural partner for Neuvillette: she can pre-absorb Droplets or generate them for him to use during his beam rotations.
Elemental Burst — Super Saturated Syringing
Sigewinne pulls out a giant special syringe and launches waves of kindness and medicine in front of her, dealing AoE Hydro damage multiple times over 2.5 seconds based on her Max HP. She also absorbs up to 2 nearby Sourcewater Droplets when using this Burst. The Burst has a 70 Energy cost and deals substantial damage when built correctly, but in pure support builds it is often skipped since the Energy cost is high and her Skill already provides the core healing and buffing. In DPS-hybrid builds, it is a meaningful damage contribution. Level this second after the Skill.
Ascension Passive 1 — Requires Appropriate Rest
After using Rebound Hydrotherapy, Sigewinne gains the Semi-Strict Bedrest effect for 18 seconds, granting 8% Hydro DMG Bonus and 10 Convalescence stacks. Each stack increases nearby active characters’ off-field Elemental Skill hit damage. When her HP is at or above 30,000, the value per 1,000 HP above 30,000 scales up to 100 bonus damage per hit, maxing at 3,500 additional damage per off-field Skill hit at 65,000 HP.
Ascension Passive 2 — Detailed Diagnosis, Thorough Treatment
When Sigewinne heals party members, the amount healed is increased by 3% for every 1,000 HP worth of Bond of Life currently active on all party members combined, up to a maximum 30% increased healing. In teams with Furina — whose Elemental Skill actively places Bond of Life on the team — this passive triggers naturally and amplifies Sigewinne’s already powerful healing by up to 30%. It also synergizes with Clorinde, Wriothesley, and other characters whose mechanics generate Bond of Life.
Utility Passive — Emergency Dose
While underwater, when the active character’s HP falls below 50%, Sigewinne automatically heals them for 50% of their Max HP over 2.5 seconds and temporarily reduces their Elemental and Physical RES by 10% for 10 seconds. This can trigger once every 20 seconds. The healing is genuinely invaluable for underwater exploration in Fontaine where maintaining HP is challenging, and the RES reduction is a side effect to be aware of (though it only applies during the brief healing window).
Best Artifacts for Sigewinne in Genshin Impact
4-Piece Song of Days Past (Best for Furina Teams and Support Role)
This is Sigewinne’s best artifact set in teams where healing drives team damage. The 2-piece gives 15% Healing Bonus, improving her already substantial HP-scaled heals. The 4-piece creates stacking “Yearning” buffs when Sigewinne heals party members who are not at full HP — up to 3 stacks of 8% DMG Bonus each, for a maximum 24%. When 3 stacks are reached, they convert into a 50% DMG Bonus for the entire party. In teams with Furina, whose Elemental Skill constantly drains allies below full HP, these stacks build and convert reliably every rotation. Sigewinne’s healing naturally replenishes the drained HP, which triggers the stacks all over again in the next cycle. The result is essentially a permanent 24–50% DMG Bonus for your main DPS as long as Sigewinne heals consistently. This set is available from the Waterfall Wen domain in Fontaine.
4-Piece Ocean-Hued Clam (Alternative — Adds Personal Damage)
This set converts Sigewinne’s healing output into a source of team damage. The 2-piece gives 15% Healing Bonus (same as Song of Days Past). The 4-piece causes healing over the cap — healing beyond what a character’s HP bar can absorb — to generate Sea-Dyed Foam that explodes and deals Physical damage up to once every 3.5 seconds. Since Sigewinne’s Bubblebalm heals the entire team simultaneously and she tends to over-heal considerably in well-built teams, the foam generates frequently. Use this set if you already have Song of Days Past covered by another support or if you want Sigewinne’s healing to generate passive team damage. Available from the Domain of Blessing in Inazuma.
2-Piece HP + 2-Piece HP Combinations (Budget Option)
Combining any two HP-boosting 2-piece sets — such as Tenacity of the Millelith (20% HP) and Vourukasha’s Glow (20% HP) — provides 40% bonus HP total. This is the fastest path to reaching the 65,000 HP threshold if you do not have strong Song of Days Past or Ocean-Hued Clam pieces yet. The flat HP gain directly translates into more healing, more passive buff value, and better scaling across her entire kit. Use this while farming for Song of Days Past.
Artifact Main Stats and Substats
- Sands: HP% (or Energy Recharge if you specifically want to cycle her Burst)
- Goblet: HP%
- Circlet: HP% or Healing Bonus% (HP% increases her absolute healing scale and passive buff; Healing Bonus% amplifies the percentage of each heal)
- Substats Priority: Energy Recharge (if using Burst regularly) > HP% > CRIT Rate = CRIT DMG (only for Burst-DPS builds)
In pure healer and support builds, CRIT stats are largely unnecessary — her buffs and heals do not scale with CRIT. The sole exception is if you are investing in her Burst as a damage source, in which case her C6 provides significant CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG bonuses based on HP. For most players, HP% on every main stat slot and HP% in substats is the correct approach, supplemented by enough ER to use the Burst when desired.
Best Weapons for Sigewinne in Genshin Impact
Silvershower Heartstrings (5-Star — Signature Best-in-Slot)
Sigewinne’s own signature bow is her definitive best weapon. It has HP% as its secondary stat — the most important stat for her entire kit — and its passive grants stacking “Remedy” effects that further increase HP%, Healing Bonus, and Elemental Burst CRIT Rate. Up to 3 Remedy stacks can be active at once, each gained by triggering specific conditions: when a nearby party member uses their Elemental Burst, when the equipping character uses their Elemental Skill, or when the equipping character uses their Elemental Burst. In Sigewinne’s teams, all three conditions are met in every rotation, making 3 stacks essentially permanent. At 3 Remedy stacks, the passive provides 28% HP bonus, 25% Healing Bonus, and 28% Elemental Burst CRIT Rate. Combined with HP% from the secondary stat, this weapon is the single most efficient path to reaching 65,000 HP and maximizing every aspect of her kit simultaneously.
Aqua Simulacra (5-Star)
This is Yelan’s signature 5-star bow and a solid alternative for Sigewinne. Its passive grants a 16% HP bonus — directly contributing to her HP scaling — and a 20% DMG Bonus when nearby opponents are present, which benefits her Burst damage in DPS-hybrid builds. Less HP than her signature but a meaningful alternative if you have it from a previous banner cycle.
Recurve Bow (3-Star — Best Pure HP F2P Option)
This 3-star bow has HP% as its secondary stat — the only freely obtainable bow that does so. At R5, the HP% from its secondary stat contributes meaningfully to reaching Sigewinne’s 65,000 HP target. Its passive restores HP when defeating enemies. Not impressive in damage terms, but for players who cannot access 5-star bows and specifically want to maximize HP scaling as quickly as possible, Recurve Bow at R5 provides more HP contribution per slot than most 4-star alternatives with other secondary stats.
Favonius Warbow (4-Star)
The standard Energy Recharge bow. Its ER secondary stat solves Sigewinne’s Burst Energy needs if you want to cycle Super Saturated Syringing every rotation. Its passive generates Elemental Particles on CRIT hits, providing energy for the entire team. Use this if your team struggles with energy management or if you specifically want Sigewinne to Burst every rotation for maximum off-field damage and Bond of Life synergies.
Sacrificial Bow (4-Star)
Another Energy Recharge bow. Its passive can reset Sigewinne’s Elemental Skill cooldown after it hits, allowing her to potentially fire a second round of Bolstering Bubblebalms per rotation — more healing, more Convalescence stacks, and more off-field Skill damage buff applications. In teams where healing uptime is critical and you want maximum buffing consistency, the Skill reset from Sacrificial Bow is genuinely valuable.
Sigewinne Talent Priority
Level Sigewinne’s talents in this order:
- Elemental Skill (Rebound Hydrotherapy) — This is her core ability. Higher Skill talent levels increase the healing per Bubblebalm bounce (which scales with HP and the talent multiplier), increase the Hydro damage per bounce, and enhance the Convalescence buff values. Crown this first in dedicated builds. Push to at least level 8–9 minimum.
- Elemental Burst (Super Saturated Syringing) — Level this second if you want to use her Burst for damage. The damage scales with HP and talent level. In pure support builds where the Burst is skipped most rotations, this can be deprioritized. In teams where you include her Burst, level it alongside her Skill.
- Normal Attack (Targeted Treatment) — Do not level this. Sigewinne’s Normal Attacks are almost never used in any team composition. Every resource spent here is wasted compared to her Skill and Burst.
Sigewinne Genshin Impact Best Team Compositions
Furina Double Hydro Team (Best Overall)
- Neuvillette or any DPS (Main DPS)
- Furina (Hydro Buffer, HP Fluctuation)
- Sigewinne (Healer, Off-field Skill Buff, Hydro Resonance)
- Flex (Kazuha, Fischl, or reaction enabler)
This is Sigewinne’s definitive best team structure. Furina is the key: her Elemental Skill places Bond of Life on the team while draining their HP, and her Burst amplifies team damage through Fanfare stacks. Sigewinne’s job is to heal back the HP that Furina drains, which simultaneously triggers Song of Days Past’s stacking DMG Bonus and activates Sigewinne’s own Ascension Passive 2 (the Bond of Life healing amplifier). The two characters feed each other’s kits in a self-sustaining loop: Furina drains → Sigewinne heals → Song of Days Past stacks → Furina’s Fanfare amplifies → Furina drains again. The DPS in the first slot benefits from all of this amplification, with Neuvillette being the premier choice due to his own Sourcewater Droplet interaction and Sigewinne’s Skill generating those Droplets. Two Hydro characters activates Hydro Resonance, granting 25% Max HP — helping both Furina and Sigewinne reach their HP thresholds more easily.
Neuvillette Freeze Team
- Neuvillette (Hydro Main DPS)
- Sigewinne (Healer, Sourcewater Droplet generator)
- Citlali (Cryo Shielder, RES Shred)
- Kaedehara Kazuha (Anemo Buffer, VV Shred)
Sigewinne generates Sourcewater Droplets for Neuvillette to absorb during his Charged Attack beam, directly increasing his beam duration and hitting harder. Citlali provides Cryo for Freeze and shields Neuvillette against interruption during his beam. Kazuha shreds Hydro and Cryo resistance and buffs elemental damage. Sigewinne’s healing keeps the team safe while Neuvillette channels his beam, and her Convalescence buff applies to Citlali’s off-field Cryo hits and any other off-field Skill damage in the team.
Kamisato Ayaka Freeze Team
- Kamisato Ayaka (Cryo Main DPS)
- Shenhe (Cryo Buffer)
- Sigewinne (Hydro Healer, Hydro application for Freeze)
- Kaedehara Kazuha (Anemo Buffer, VV Shred)
Sigewinne provides the consistent Hydro application that Ayaka needs to Freeze enemies during her Burst and Normal Attack chains. Shenhe buffs Cryo damage through Icy Quills. Kazuha groups enemies and shreds resistance. Sigewinne’s healing ensures Ayaka’s Dash and Burst rotations proceed uninterrupted, and her Convalescence stacks benefit Shenhe’s off-field Cryo coordinated attacks. This is one of the strongest Freeze team compositions available.
Nilou Bloom Team
- Nilou (Hydro DPS, Bloom Enabler)
- Sigewinne (Hydro Healer)
- Nahida (Dendro Sub-DPS)
- Flex Dendro (Baizhu or Yaoyao)
Nilou’s special Bloom teams require all party members to be Hydro or Dendro to activate her Bountiful Cores mechanic. Sigewinne fills the Hydro healer slot perfectly — she provides the healing needed to offset Bloom self-damage from the Bountiful Cores while contributing consistent Hydro application for Bloom triggers. Her Convalescence buff applies to Nahida’s off-field Dendro Skill hits, adding bonus damage to the off-field application that sustains the Bloom reactions.
Off-field Skill Buffer Team (Fischl/Yelan/Xingqiu Focus)
- Main DPS (any element)
- Sigewinne (Healer, Off-field Skill Buff)
- Fischl (Electro off-field Sub-DPS)
- Xingqiu or Yelan (Hydro off-field Sub-DPS)
Sigewinne’s Convalescence stacks add flat bonus damage to off-field Elemental Skill hits. Fischl’s Oz bird fires Electro shots that count as off-field Elemental Skill hits. Xingqiu’s and Yelan’s off-field Hydro coordinated attacks also count. Each Convalescence stack consumed on one of these hits adds up to 3,500 bonus damage at 65,000 HP. With Fischl firing every second and Xingqiu’s Rain Swords activating on every Normal Attack hit, Sigewinne’s 10 stacks drain rapidly — meaning she needs to refresh her Skill regularly to keep buff uptime high.
Is Sigewinne Worth Pulling?
Sigewinne is worth pulling for players who want a comfortable, powerful healer that doubles as an off-field damage buffer. Her strengths are notable:
- Her healing is substantial — bouncing Bubblebalms heal all party members simultaneously regardless of positioning, which is rare and valuable for spread-out formations
- Her off-field Elemental Skill DMG buff adds real flat damage to teammates like Fischl, Furina, Yelan, and Xingqiu
- She is exceptionally easy to build — HP% on everything, no complex CRIT ratios or reaction thresholds to manage
- Her synergy with Furina is one of the tightest in the game — the Bond of Life and Fanfare systems feed each other perfectly
- Her underwater utility passive makes Fontaine exploration dramatically more comfortable
- She creates Sourcewater Droplets for Neuvillette, making her his most seamless Hydro support
Her weaknesses are also real. She does not apply Hydro as consistently as characters like Yelan or Xingqiu — her Bubblebalm bounces are less frequent than those characters’ coordinated attacks and do not trigger on every Normal Attack hit. Her off-field Skill buff is capped at 10 stacks and consumes charges quickly with heavy off-field hitters, requiring her to refresh her Skill often. Her Burst has a high Energy cost that can be difficult to cycle without Energy Recharge investment. And until C2, she cannot fully maximize certain synergies with Furina that require Hydro RES shred. But as a pure healer who also provides meaningful off-field damage support, she is among the best in her class.
Sigewinne Constellations
Sigewinne’s constellations enhance her healing, utility, and damage in a fairly linear progression. C1 and C2 are the recommended stopping points:
- C1 — “Can the Healthiest of Spirits Cure Fevers?”: Rebound Hydrotherapy’s Bolstering Bubblebalm can bounce 3 extra times, and the first 3 bounces will not cause the big Bubblebalm to shrink smaller. Additionally, each bounce adds 1 stack to her Convalescence tally (on top of the 10 base stacks), and the per-stack buff value scales with HP. More bounces means more healing ticks, longer Convalescence buff uptime, and more Hydro hits on enemies. This is a meaningful quality-of-life constellation that improves healing consistency and extends how long each Skill activation provides the off-field buff.
- C2 — “Can the Most Merciful of Spirits Defeat Its Foes?”: When using Rebound Hydrotherapy or Super Saturated Syringing, Sigewinne creates a Bubbly Shield worth 30% of her Max HP that absorbs Hydro damage with 250% efficiency. After the Bubblebalm or Syringing hits an opponent, that opponent’s Hydro RES is decreased by 35% for 8 seconds. The Hydro RES shred is the main reason C2 is so valuable — 35% Hydro RES reduction is a substantial damage increase for Neuvillette, Yelan, Xingqiu, Furina, and any other Hydro character in the team. The shield also provides an additional defensive layer in tougher content. C2 is the recommended stopping point for most players after C1.
- C3 — “Can the Most Exquisite of Spirits Cure Headaches?”: Increases Elemental Skill talent level by 3. More healing per bounce, higher Convalescence buff values.
- C4 — “Can the Most Sensitive of Spirits Mend Muscles?”: Extends Super Saturated Syringing duration by 3 seconds. More hits from the Burst, more Hydro damage, more Sourcewater Droplets absorbed.
- C5 — “Can the Most Flourishing of Spirits Banish Baleful Blight?”: Increases Elemental Burst talent level by 3. More damage from Super Saturated Syringing.
- C6 — “Can the Most Radiant of Spirits Pray For Me?”: When Sigewinne heals, she gains bonus CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG for her Super Saturated Syringing based on her Max HP. Every 1,000 Max HP provides 0.4% CRIT Rate and 2.2% CRIT DMG, up to a maximum of 20% CRIT Rate and 110% CRIT DMG. At 65,000 HP (which is exactly her target HP threshold), this gives her 26% CRIT Rate and 143% CRIT DMG for her Burst — allowing it to deal enormous damage in a short 2.5-second window. C6 transforms her Burst from a side contribution into a legitimately powerful damage source.
Sigewinne Ascension Materials
Here is what you need to fully ascend Sigewinne from level 1 to level 90:
- Varunada Lazurite: Sliver ×1, Fragment ×9, Chunk ×9, Gemstone ×6 — farmed from Hydro world bosses including the Hydro Hypostasis and Hydro Tulpa
- Water That Failed to Transcend — Boss drop from the Hydro Tulpa world boss, found in the Beryl Region of Fontaine (the same boss also drops Varunada Lazurite, making it efficient to farm both simultaneously)
- Romaritime Flower (Fontaine local specialty) — 168 total needed; found on beaches and underwater in Fontaine, particularly in the Salacia Plain. Flowers on land need to be applied with Hydro to bloom before collecting, similar to Mondstadt’s Dandelion Seeds
- Transoceanic Pearl, Transoceanic Chunk, Xenochromatic Crystal — dropped by Fontemer Aberrant aquatic creatures found throughout Fontaine’s coastal and underwater areas
- Mora: approximately 420,000 total for full ascension
The Hydro Tulpa boss is the most efficient farming location for Sigewinne — it drops both Water That Failed to Transcend and Varunada Lazurite in the same run. Romaritime Flowers are the most time-consuming material. Most of the 168 required can be found underwater in the Salacia Plain area. For flowers on land, use a Hydro character or Sigewinne herself to apply Hydro and make them collectible.
Sigewinne Talent Level-Up Materials
To fully level all three of Sigewinne’s talents you will need:
- Teachings, Guide, and Philosophies of Equity — obtained from the Pale Forgotten Glory domain in Fontaine on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays
- Transoceanic Pearl, Transoceanic Chunk, Xenochromatic Crystal — from Fontemer Aberrant enemies
- Lightless Eye of the Maelstrom — weekly boss material from the All-Devouring Narwhal weekly boss in Fontaine (unlocked by completing Fontaine Archon Quest Act 5)
- Crown of Insight — for crowning a talent to level 10
Crown the Elemental Skill first. It governs both the healing per bounce and the Convalescence buff values that make Sigewinne valuable in her support role. Characters like Baizhu and Sangonomiya Kokomi follow the same talent priority philosophy — crown the primary healing and buffing ability, as that is where the investment returns are highest.
Sigewinne vs Other Hydro Healers
- vs Baizhu: Baizhu is a Dendro Catalyst healer who also provides shields and Dendro for Bloom reactions. Sigewinne provides more straightforward AoE burst healing and a unique off-field Skill DMG buff that Baizhu cannot match. They serve different team niches — Baizhu is the Dendro reaction specialist; Sigewinne is the Furina and off-field buff specialist.
- vs Sangonomiya Kokomi: Kokomi provides continuous passive healing through her Bake-Kurage jellyfish and strong off-field Hydro application. Her healing is more consistent across time but does not provide the off-field Skill DMG buff that Sigewinne offers. In Bloom teams that need heavy Hydro application, Kokomi can be preferable. In Furina teams and off-field buffer teams, Sigewinne has distinct advantages.
- vs Barbara: Barbara is a 4-star Hydro healer with simpler mechanics and lower healing ceiling. Sigewinne’s healing scales better at high investment and her off-field Skill buff is a unique contribution Barbara cannot match. Barbara remains a budget alternative for players without access to 5-star healers.
- vs Furina: Furina is not primarily a healer — she buffs damage through Fanfare and drains HP. Sigewinne and Furina work together rather than in competition, with Sigewinne healing what Furina drains. They are the definitive best duo for this reason.
Sigewinne Genshin Impact Lore and Background
Sigewinne’s story is one of the most touching in Fontaine’s cast. Long ago, when Melusines were looked down upon and their appearances were considered taboo in Fontaine’s society, Sigewinne befriended a young human child. To protect that child — who was in danger in some way connected to Sigewinne’s non-human appearance — she illegally transformed herself into human form. Fontaine’s laws at the time did not permit such transformations, and Sigewinne was convicted and sent to the Fortress of Meropide.
Rather than resenting the outcome, Sigewinne found her calling within the prison. She became its head nurse, tending to every convict equally without judgment. Her infirmary became one of the only places in the Fortress open to anyone at any time. Wriothesley, the Duke of the Fortress, developed a working relationship with her built on genuine mutual respect — he for her tireless dedication to the welfare of everyone under his care, she for his complex but ultimately fair-minded governance of the prison. Her motto, that “overdosing on medicine is no different from poison, but nobody can overdose on care and concern,” captures her philosophy perfectly.
Her relationship with Neuvillette is playfully acknowledged by the game itself — they share the Sourcewater Droplet mechanic, leading to fan jokes about the “father-daughter” dynamic, since Neuvillette as the Hydro Dragon Sovereign has an inherent connection to all water-related phenomena in Fontaine, and Sigewinne as a Melusine of the sea comes from that same elemental origin.
