Who Is Tighnari in Genshin Impact?
Tighnari is a 5-star Dendro character in Genshin Impact. He wields a Bow and comes from Sumeru, where he serves as a Forest Watcher of the Avidya Forest under the Haravatat Darshan of the Akademiya. He is a young researcher well-versed in botany, ecology, and the medicinal properties of plants. Despite his academic background, he lives among the trees rather than in the Akademiya’s halls — a deliberate choice that reflects his practical, direct nature.
In combat, Tighnari is the game’s original Dendro DPS character. His Charged Attacks have two levels similar to Ganyu’s — a standard shot and a powerful Wreath Arrow at full charge. Using his Elemental Skill reduces the Wreath Arrow’s charge time significantly and causes it to fire multiple homing Clusterbloom Arrows on impact. His Elemental Burst fires a rapid volley of Dendro tracking shots. He is at his strongest in Quicken teams where the Quicken aura is maintained on enemies by Electro characters, allowing his every Dendro hit to trigger the Spread reaction for massive flat damage bonus scaling with his Elemental Mastery.

Tighnari’s Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- First and original Dendro DPS — Tighnari introduced the Dendro element as a playable combat resource and remains one of the most satisfying Dendro DPS characters to play, with a smooth and satisfying Charged Attack rhythm.
- Short rotation and quickswap-friendly — His kit does not require extended on-field time. His Skill reduces Wreath Arrow charge time, letting him fire three powerful shots quickly before using his Burst and swapping out. This makes him excellent in quickswap teams.
- Spread reaction adds flat damage on every Dendro hit — In Quicken teams, every Dendro hit from Tighnari triggers Spread, adding a flat damage bonus that scales with Elemental Mastery. Unlike Vaporize or Melt, Spread does not consume the Quicken aura, meaning it triggers repeatedly on consecutive hits.
- A4 passive scales both Charged Attacks and Burst DMG with EM — His passive turns Elemental Mastery into a direct Charged Attack and Burst damage multiplier (up to 60% bonus DMG at 1000 EM), making EM a genuine damage stat for him rather than just a reaction amplifier.
- Strong homing on Clusterbloom Arrows and Burst — His arrows automatically track enemies, which is particularly effective against moving bosses and enemies that dodge frequently.
- Available on Standard Banner — As a Standard Banner 5-star, Tighnari is accessible without relying on limited banner luck.
Weaknesses
- Limited team options — He functions optimally only in Quicken (Dendro + Electro) teams. Characters that apply Hydro, Pyro, or Cryo may overwrite the Quicken aura and disrupt Spread reaction uptime. This restricts his team building flexibility compared to more universally reactive DPS characters.
- Does not synergise with Normal Attack-proc units — Supports like Xingqiu, Thoma, and others that trigger off Normal Attacks provide no value to Tighnari because his damage comes entirely from Charged Attacks and Burst — never Normal Attacks.
- Powercreep is a factor — Alhaitham, Nahida, and other newer Dendro characters have higher damage ceilings in some team contexts. Tighnari remains strong and enjoyable but is not the highest-output Dendro option available.
- Charged Attack requirement demands stamina management — Wreath Arrows consume Stamina. In long fights, stamina can run dry if Tighnari is kept on-field too long without managing his rotation carefully.
Tighnari’s Abilities and Talents
Normal Attack – Khanda Barrier-Buster
Tighnari fires up to four standard Bow shots. His Aimed Shot (Level 1 Charged Attack) deals Dendro DMG when fully charged. His Wreath Arrow (Level 2 Charged Attack) is the core of his kit. When the Wreath Arrow hits, it fires four additional homing Clusterbloom Arrows that automatically track nearby enemies and deal Dendro DMG each. His Plunging Attack deals AoE damage on landing. Normal Attacks in their standard form are never used in his rotation — all on-field time is spent on Wreath Arrows and the Burst. The Normal Attack talent level raises Wreath Arrow and Clusterbloom Arrow damage, making it the highest priority talent despite the name.
Elemental Skill – Vijnana-Phala Mine
Tighnari hurls a Vijnana Stormheart forward that deals AoE Dendro DMG and creates a Vijnana-Khanda Field — a zone with illusions that taunts nearby enemies and draws their fire. After using the Skill, Tighnari gains the Vijnana Suffusion effect, which reduces the Wreath Arrow charging time by 2.4 seconds and lasts until the skill duration ends or until Tighnari fires three Wreath Arrows. In practice, after using his Skill, Tighnari can fire three rapid Wreath Arrows in quick succession with minimal charge time before the Vijnana Suffusion expires. This is the core of his on-field rotation. The Skill itself contributes minimally to total damage and its talent level is the lowest priority.
Elemental Burst – Fashioner’s Tanglevine Shaft
Tighnari combines the power of all seeds and fires six Tanglevine Shafts that track opponents and deal Dendro DMG on each hit. After impact, each shaft creates a secondary wave of additional Tanglevine Shafts that also track opponents and deal Dendro DMG. In total, the Burst delivers up to twelve instances of Dendro damage, all of which can trigger Spread in Quicken teams. The Burst has a 40 Energy cost and a 12-second cooldown. Its relatively low Energy cost and short cooldown make it easy to use every rotation. Burst talent level is the second priority after Normal Attack.
Passive Talents
- Keen Sight (A1) — After Tighnari fires a Wreath Arrow, his Elemental Mastery is increased by 50 for 4 seconds. This temporary EM boost applies to his next ability and stacks with base EM for both the A4 passive and Spread damage.
- Scholarly Blade (A4) — For every point of Elemental Mastery Tighnari possesses, his Charged Attack and Fashioner’s Tanglevine Shaft (Burst) DMG are increased by 0.06%. The maximum DMG Bonus obtainable this way is 60%, reached at 1000 Elemental Mastery. This passive makes EM a direct damage multiplier for him, not just a reaction amplifier. Aim to maximise EM without sacrificing CRIT balance.
- Encyclopaedic Knowledge (Utility) — Displays the location of nearby animals of interest on the minimap. Helpful for completing animal-related quests and achievements in the open world.
Best Weapons for Tighnari
Tighnari primarily wants Bows with CRIT stats and high Base ATK. His A4 passive also benefits from Elemental Mastery, so weapons that provide EM alongside CRIT are particularly valuable for him.
Best 5-Star Weapons
- Hunter’s Path (Signature — Best in Slot) — Tighnari’s signature weapon and his clear best-in-slot pick. It provides CRIT Rate as a substat and a passive that grants an Elemental DMG Bonus after Charged Attacks hit opponents, stacking up to three times. Crucially, the passive also adds Charged Attack DMG based on Elemental Mastery, further amplifying his A4 passive’s scaling. All three parts of this weapon align perfectly with his kit — CRIT Rate, Elemental DMG Bonus, and EM-based Charged Attack damage. Pull this weapon when it reruns if you plan to main Tighnari.
- Aqua Simulacra — Provides CRIT DMG and a passive that boosts HP and DMG when enemies are nearby. The CRIT DMG substat is excellent for Tighnari’s CRIT ratio, and the DMG bonus applies to all his hits. A strong generalist 5-star option.
- Polar Star — CRIT Rate substat with stacking ATK and Elemental Skill/Burst DMG bonuses from every type of attack hit. Tighnari can accumulate stacks through his Skill, Burst, and Charged Attacks. Strong but loses some efficiency since stacks require multiple hit types per rotation.
- Thundering Pulse / Skyward Harp — High-base-ATK Bows with CRIT substats that function as reliable stat sticks. Thundering Pulse’s Normal Attack-focused passive is partially wasted on Tighnari but the raw stats are strong. Skyward Harp’s high CRIT Rate and periodic extra hit work well across any rotation.
Best 4-Star Weapons
- Scion of the Blazing Sun (Craftable) — A craftable Bow from Sumeru with CRIT Rate and a passive that buffs Charged Attack DMG and causes Charged Attacks to mark enemies with a Sunfire Arrow on hit. Excellent for Tighnari’s Charged Attack-heavy rotation and immediately accessible through crafting. His best F2P weapon option.
- King’s Squire — Provides CRIT DMG and a passive that boosts Elemental Skill and Burst DMG while also providing periodic EM boosts. Both elements of the passive are useful for Tighnari and the CRIT DMG substat is highly efficient.
- The Stringless — Elemental Mastery substat with a passive that increases Elemental Skill and Burst DMG. The EM directly benefits his A4 passive, and both skill and Burst hits get a bonus. A solid option for Spread-focused builds where EM is especially valuable.
- Prototype Crescent (Craftable) — ATK% substat with a passive that boosts ATK and Movement SPD when Charged Attacks hit enemies’ weak points. While the weak point requirement is inconsistent in practice, it provides a meaningful ATK boost when triggered and is fully free to craft.
Best Artifacts for Tighnari
Tighnari’s artifact set choice depends entirely on whether another character on the team is already holding Deepwood Memories. If no one else has it, Deepwood is his default best-in-slot. If another Dendro character is covering it, he uses Gilded Dreams instead.
Deepwood Memories (4-Piece) — Default Best in Slot
The 2-piece bonus increases Dendro DMG by 15%. The 4-piece bonus, when Elemental Skill or Burst hits an opponent, reduces their Dendro RES by 30% for 8 seconds — and this can be applied by any character wearing the set, even off-field. For Tighnari specifically, wearing this set means he personally shreds Dendro resistance with every Skill and Burst use, amplifying all his own Dendro damage as well as any other Dendro damage the team deals. Since Tighnari frequently uses both his Skill and Burst every rotation, the 30% Dendro RES shred is essentially permanent during his window. If no other Dendro character is present to hold this set, Tighnari should wear it.
Gilded Dreams (4-Piece) — Best When Another Character Holds Deepwood
When a second Dendro character like Nahida is already wearing Deepwood Memories, Tighnari takes Gilded Dreams. The 2-piece provides 80 Elemental Mastery. The 4-piece grants ATK% for party members sharing the same element as the wearer, and EM for those with different elements — in a typical two-Dendro two-Electro team, the result is a significant EM buff for Tighnari. Since his A4 passive converts EM directly into Charged Attack and Burst DMG, Gilded Dreams is a natural fit. The team keeps both Deepwood RES shred and Tighnari’s damage optimisation simultaneously.
Wanderer’s Troupe (4-Piece) — Alternative
Provides 80 Elemental Mastery from the 2-piece and a 35% Charged Attack DMG bonus from the 4-piece. The unconditional 35% Charged Attack DMG bonus is reliable regardless of team composition and consistently adds to every Wreath Arrow hit. It does not provide reaction-scaling benefits like Gilded Dreams, but the flat bonus is a guaranteed damage increase in every rotation. A good option if your Gilded Dreams pieces have poor substats but you have well-rolled Wanderer’s Troupe pieces.
Recommended Artifact Main Stats
- Sands: Elemental Mastery (if using Hunter’s Path or when EM optimisation takes priority for A4 passive and Spread) or ATK%
- Goblet: Dendro DMG Bonus
- Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG (aim for roughly 1:2 ratio)
Recommended Substats
CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG are top priority. After that, Elemental Mastery is highly valuable since it improves both Spread reaction damage and the A4 passive’s Charged Attack and Burst DMG bonus. ATK% rounds out the damage profile. Aim for around 130–150% Energy Recharge to reliably use the Burst each rotation — his Burst only costs 40 Energy, so this is a manageable target.
Tighnari Constellations Guide
As a Standard Banner 5-star, Tighnari constellations are obtainable from the Standard Banner and Chronicled Wishes over time. He is strong at C0 but C2 is a notable power spike. He also appeared in the first limited banner of the game and has been in Chronicled Wishes.
- C1 – Beginnings Determined at the Roots: Tighnari’s Charged Attack CRIT Rate is increased by 15%. A straightforward and effective damage increase that helps achieve and exceed optimal CRIT ratios without needing as much CRIT Rate from artifacts.
- C2 – Origins Known from the Stem (Best Constellation): When there are opponents in the Vijnana-Khanda Field created by the Elemental Skill, Tighnari gains a 20% Dendro DMG Bonus. This bonus also applies to his Fashioner’s Tanglevine Shaft (Burst). Because the Vijnana-Khanda Field is active every time he uses his Skill, and enemies are typically present during combat, this 20% Dendro DMG Bonus is effectively permanent during his rotation. This is his most impactful constellation and the one worth pursuing most actively.
- C3 – Fortunes Read Amongst the Branches: Increases the level of Fashioner’s Tanglevine Shaft (Burst) by 3, up to a maximum of level 15. A direct Burst damage increase.
- C4 – Withering Glimpsed in the Leaves: When Fashioner’s Tanglevine Shaft is unleashed, all team members’ Elemental Mastery is increased by 60 for 8 seconds. If the Burst triggers a Burning, Quicken, Aggravate, Spread, Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon reaction, all party members gain an additional 60 EM for 6 seconds. In Quicken teams, Tighnari’s Burst nearly always triggers Spread, granting the team a total of 120 EM for a brief window. Useful for boosting the team’s reaction output.
- C5 – Branches Etch the Patterns of Stars: Increases the level of Vijnana-Phala Mine (Elemental Skill) by 3, up to a maximum of level 15. A minor damage increase to the Skill, which is the lowest priority talent.
- C6 – Karma Adjudged From the Classics: Wreath Arrow’s charging time is decreased by 0.9 seconds and its Clusterbloom Arrow damage is increased by 15% of Tighnari’s Elemental Mastery. This constellation further speeds up his on-field rotation and adds more EM scaling to the Clusterbloom Arrows. At higher EM values, the bonus becomes increasingly impactful.
Tighnari’s Best Team Compositions
Tighnari functions exclusively in Quicken (Dendro + Electro) team archetypes. Characters that apply Hydro, Pyro, or Cryo in ways that overwrite the Quicken aura are generally not recommended alongside him, as they disrupt Spread reaction uptime. His best teams use two Dendro and two Electro characters, or one Dendro and two-to-three Electro characters.
Double Electro Spread Team (Best Archetype)
Tighnari’s strongest setup pairs him with two off-field Electro characters to maintain a stable Quicken aura and trigger both Spread and Aggravate reactions simultaneously. The team is highly self-contained — all Electro and Dendro, no disruptive elements.
- Tighnari + Fischl + Yae Miko + Zhongli — The premium Spread team. Fischl applies consistent off-field Electro with Oz and generates Energy for the team. Yae Miko’s Sesshou Sakura totems add off-field Electro and deal strong Aggravate damage alongside Tighnari’s Spread hits. Zhongli provides an unbreakable shield, universal resistance shred, and holds Instructor artifacts for an additional EM buff to the team. A powerful and smooth team that covers both defence and consistent Quicken aura maintenance.
- Tighnari + Fischl + Yae Miko + Baizhu — Replaces Zhongli with Baizhu for healing and additional Dendro application alongside a shield. Baizhu also provides bonus DMG to Bloom-type reactions if they somehow trigger, and his passive buffs the team’s survivability. A slightly softer but more self-sustaining option.
- Tighnari + Fischl + Kuki Shinobu + Kazuha — Kuki replaces Yae Miko for a more accessible Electro off-field option. Her Electro application maintains Quicken aura and she also provides healing. Kazuha groups enemies and adds Elemental DMG Bonus through his EM share passive. A strong F2P-adjacent team that performs well in most content.
Double Dendro Quicken Team
Running a second Dendro character alongside Tighnari allows one of them to hold Deepwood Memories for passive Dendro RES shred while the other focuses on personal damage. It also grants Dendro Resonance, which increases all party members’ EM by 50 — directly benefiting Tighnari’s A4 passive.
- Tighnari + Nahida + Fischl + flex — Nahida holds Deepwood Memories and provides off-field Dendro application from her Elemental Skill, applying the 30% Dendro RES shred. Tighnari then uses Gilded Dreams for EM scaling. Fischl maintains the Quicken aura. The flex slot can be another Electro for Double Electro resonance or a shielder/healer. An excellent and complementary pairing since Nahida and Tighnari cover each other’s weaknesses.
- Tighnari + Nahida + Yae Miko + Zhongli — A premium version of the above. Nahida covers Deepwood and off-field Dendro. Yae Miko adds substantial Aggravate damage and Electro application from her totems. Zhongli provides protection and RES shred. A composition with excellent damage from all four characters.
F2P-Accessible Quicken Team
For players who do not have premium Electro characters like Yae Miko, Tighnari still builds strong teams from the available roster.
- Tighnari + Fischl + Kuki Shinobu + Nahida — Fischl and Kuki maintain Electro application and Quicken aura. Kuki heals and reduces the need for a dedicated healer. Nahida applies off-field Dendro and holds Deepwood. Tighnari is the on-field DPS. All four characters are either Standard Banner or have had many Event Wish reruns, making this one of the most accessible strong Tighnari teams.
Tighnari Talent Priority
Recommended talent upgrade order: Normal Attack (Charged Attack) > Burst > Skill.
Despite the naming, the Normal Attack talent is the highest priority because it governs the damage of Tighnari’s Wreath Arrow and Clusterbloom Arrows — the core of his DPS. Level and crown this talent first. The Burst is second because the Fashioner’s Tanglevine Shaft fires twelve Dendro hits and benefits from both talent level and the A4 passive EM scaling. The Elemental Skill is the lowest priority — it contributes very little damage to his total output and mainly serves as the rotation accelerant (reducing Wreath Arrow charge time). It can remain at a low level throughout his career without meaningfully affecting his total output.
Reaching Level 90 is specifically recommended for Tighnari because Spread reaction damage scales with the character’s level. Higher character level directly increases the flat damage bonus from each Spread proc, making the final Ascension phase especially impactful for his overall DPS.
Tighnari Ascension Materials
Here is everything you need to fully ascend Tighnari to Level 90.
Gemstones (From Jadeplume Terrorshroom or Dendro Hypostasis)

Tighnari Lore and Character Background
Tighnari is a Forest Watcher stationed in Avidya Forest, one of Sumeru’s richest and most biologically complex environments. He was once a researcher affiliated with the Akademiya’s Haravatat Darshan, which focuses on semiotic theory and ancient languages. However, he chose field work over academic halls — a deliberate and somewhat unconventional decision in Sumeru, where intellectual prestige is deeply tied to one’s position within the Akademiya.
As a Forest Watcher, Tighnari monitors the ecological balance of Avidya Forest, tends to injured and lost animals, educates visitors on proper conduct in the forest, and occasionally handles threats from aggressive wildlife or unusual environmental disturbances. He approaches these tasks with meticulous professionalism and a characteristic directness — he is not rude, but he is exceptionally clear about expectations. Anyone who endangers the forest or its creatures can expect a swift and thorough correction from him.
Tighnari has a dry wit and warm heart beneath his no-nonsense exterior. He genuinely cares about both the people and animals he works with, and the students and colleagues who visit Avidya Forest for research often find him a far more engaging guide than his reputation for strict rules suggests. He is also a skilled teacher — while he can be demanding of students who are not paying attention, those who engage earnestly find a patient and knowledgeable mentor. His fox-like ears are a natural feature reflective of his character’s unique design in Sumeru’s lore.

Tighnari Playstyle Tips and Rotation Advice
- Core rotation — Refresh off-field supports (Fischl Skill, Yae Miko Skills, Nahida Skill) → switch to Tighnari → use Elemental Skill → immediately fire three Wreath Arrows (Vijnana Suffusion reduces charge time) → use Elemental Burst → swap back to supports. This full rotation takes relatively little time on-field, making Tighnari excellent in quickswap compositions.
- Time your Wreath Arrows efficiently — Once Vijnana Suffusion is active, fire Wreath Arrows without delay. You have three charges of the reduced-charge-time benefit. After the third, the effect expires and charging returns to normal. Do not waste these charges by firing too slowly.
- Pre-buff before entering the Tighnari window — Use all supports’ abilities before swapping to Tighnari. Zhongli’s Skill for the RES shred, Nahida’s Skill for Deepwood application, and Bennett’s Burst (if included) for ATK buff — all should be active before Tighnari begins his Charged Attack chain.
- Maintain Quicken aura — avoid element pollution — Keep your team Dendro and Electro only. Adding Hydro, Pyro, or Cryo can overwrite the Quicken aura and prevent Spread from triggering. Plan your team to avoid this.
- Use Burst liberally — With only 40 Energy cost and a 12-second cooldown, Tighnari can use his Burst very frequently. Use it every rotation. The twelve tracking hits all apply Dendro and trigger Spread in Quicken teams.
- Aim for Level 90 specifically — Spread reaction flat damage scales with level. The difference in Spread damage between Level 80 and Level 90 is meaningful and worth the extra investment of ascending beyond Level 80.
- Balance EM and CRIT — Tighnari uniquely benefits from both Elemental Mastery (for Spread and A4 passive) and CRIT stats (for maximising each hit). A balanced build that prioritises CRIT while stacking some EM outperforms going purely into either stat.
