Who Is Keqing in Genshin Impact?
Keqing is a 5-star Electro character in Genshin Impact. She wields a Sword and is from Liyue, where she serves as the Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing — one of the most senior positions in Liyue’s governing body. She is known for her sharp mind, exceptional work ethic, and strong belief in human power over divine influence.
Keqing is one of the fastest on-field DPS characters in the game. She excels at dealing consistent Electro damage through her Elemental Skill’s teleportation mechanic and rapid Normal and Charged Attacks. While she is not at the top of the current meta tier list, she remains a reliable and enjoyable main DPS who has found strong new life in Aggravate teams and the new Lunar-Charged archetype. She is a Standard Banner character, which means many players will have her — and she rewards investment well.

Keqing’s Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- Extremely fast attacker — Keqing is one of the speediest Sword users in the game. Her Charged Attacks can be chained rapidly and hit hard, especially in boss fights.
- High mobility — Her Elemental Skill lets her teleport across the battlefield instantly, making her very nimble and fun to play.
- Consistent Electro application — Her Normal and Charged Attacks apply Electro after her Skill’s infusion, making her excellent for driving Aggravate and Lunar-Charged reactions.
- Strong in Aggravate teams — With Dendro supports like Nahida, Keqing’s personal damage goes up significantly through the Aggravate flat damage bonus.
- Self-buffing passive — Her A4 passive grants a temporary CRIT Rate and Energy Recharge bonus after using her Burst, helping with both damage and Burst rotation consistency.
- Good for Standard Banner players — As a Standard character, she is accessible without pulling limited banners, and she holds up well in most endgame content.
Weaknesses
- Powercreep has affected her — As an older character with no dedicated signature weapon and weak constellations, she falls behind newer limited DPS units in raw numbers.
- Difficult to use for some players — Her optimal rotation requires quick Charged Attacks and Skill re-casting timing that takes practice to master consistently.
- Weak constellations — Her Constellations provide only incremental improvements. The gap between a C0 and a fully-constellated Keqing is smaller than most other Standard characters.
- Pushed out of the highest endgame tiers — Clearing Dire difficulty in Fearless Stygian Onslaught is very challenging at C0 and largely limited to highly invested accounts.
Keqing’s Abilities and Talents
Normal Attack – Yunlai Swordsmanship
Keqing performs up to five rapid sword strikes. Her Charged Attack consumes stamina to unleash two quick sword slashes. These two slashes deal solid damage and are the core of her DPS rotation. Her Plunging Attack deals AoE damage on landing and can be used situationally. After activating her Elemental Skill’s Electro infusion, all of these attacks deal Electro damage instead of Physical damage, making Normal and Charged Attack damage her primary focus in Electro builds.
Elemental Skill – Stellar Restoration
Keqing hurls a Lightning Stiletto at an enemy, dealing Electro damage in a small AoE and placing a Stiletto Mark on the spot. She can then recast the Skill to instantly teleport to the Stiletto’s location and deal a devastating Electro slash. If she recasts within 5 seconds of placing the Stiletto, her Normal and Charged Attacks are converted to deal Electro damage for a brief period. This infusion window is the core of her Electro DPS setup. She can also hold the Skill to aim the Stiletto in a specific direction, giving her precise positioning control. Alternatively, using a Charged Attack instead of recasting the Skill will detonate the Stiletto as a ranged AoE Electro hit.
Elemental Burst – Starward Sword
Keqing channels her sword style into an otherworldly barrage of lightning strikes. She slashes rapidly at enemies within a wide AoE, dealing multiple instances of Electro damage, before finishing with a massive final Electro hit. Her Burst has an 80 Energy cost and a 12-second cooldown. It is strong but not the primary focus of her build in most compositions — it functions more as a rotation cooldown reset and a brief window of bonus CRIT Rate from her A4 passive.
Passive Talents
- Thundering Penance (A1) — Within 5 seconds of recasting Stellar Restoration while a Lightning Stiletto is present, Keqing’s Normal and Charged Attacks are converted to Electro damage. This is the core passive that enables her Electro DPS identity.
- Aristocratic Dignity (A4) — When casting Starward Sword, Keqing’s CRIT Rate is increased by 15% and her Energy Recharge is increased by 15% for 8 seconds. This passive directly buffs her damage window right after her Burst and makes managing her ER less strict.
- Land’s Overseer (Utility) — When dispatched on an Expedition in Liyue, time consumed is reduced by 25%. A small quality-of-life bonus for passive resource gathering.
Best Weapons for Keqing
Keqing wants CRIT stats, ATK, and Elemental Mastery (for Aggravate teams). The best weapons give her a strong base for critical hits while supporting her fast-hitting attack style.
Best 5-Star Weapons
- Mistsplitter Reforged (Best Overall) — Provides high CRIT DMG as a substat and a stacking Elemental DMG Bonus from its passive. Keqing can quickly build up all three stacks through her Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, and Elemental Skill, making this weapon a near-perfect fit. It is her best-in-slot for Electro DPS builds.
- Primordial Jade Cutter — A very strong alternative, especially in Aggravate teams. Its 44.1% CRIT Rate substat and passive ATK bonus based on Max HP make it reliable across all playstyles. Considered best-in-slot or close to it in Aggravate setups where CRIT Rate is easier to overcap than raw damage.
- Light of Foliar Incision — A strong option for Aggravate Keqing. Its CRIT Rate substat and passive that buffs Normal Attack damage synergise well with her Electro-infused Normal Attack DPS loop.
Best 4-Star Weapons
- The Black Sword (Battle Pass) — Gives CRIT Rate and increases Normal and Charged Attack damage. Also provides minor healing on CRIT hits, adding a small durability bonus. An excellent all-around option for Keqing.
- Lion’s Roar — Increases damage against Electro-affected enemies. Works very well in Aggravate and Electro-Charged teams where enemies are frequently inflicted with Electro or another element that keeps an Electro aura on them.
- Iron Sting (Craftable) — Grants Elemental Mastery and bonus Elemental damage after hitting with an Elemental attack. A solid F2P choice specifically for Aggravate Keqing, where Elemental Mastery matters for the flat damage bonus.
- Harbinger of Dawn — Very high CRIT stats at low rarity when HP is above 90%. Viable in more defensive teams, but harder to maintain the HP threshold in fights with sustained damage. Use it if you have nothing else available early on.

Best Artifacts for Keqing
Keqing’s artifact choice depends on whether she is running a standard Electro DPS build or an Aggravate team with Dendro.
Thundering Fury (4-Piece) – Best for Standard Electro Build
This is Keqing’s best artifact set for standard Electro DPS. The 2-piece bonus provides 15% Electro DMG Bonus. The 4-piece bonus increases Superconduct, Electro-Charged, Overloaded, Quicken, and Aggravate damage by 40%, and reduces the cooldown of her Elemental Skill by 1 second each time any of these reactions trigger. This cooldown reduction is excellent for Keqing as it lets her recast Stellar Restoration more frequently, extending her Electro infusion window and overall damage output.
Gilded Dreams (4-Piece) – Best for Aggravate Build
This is the preferred set for Aggravate Keqing teams. The 4-piece bonus provides Elemental Mastery based on party composition — granting ATK% for teammates sharing the same element and Elemental Mastery for teammates with different elements. In a Dendro-Electro Aggravate team, this grants significant Elemental Mastery, which directly amplifies the flat damage bonus of the Aggravate reaction on every Electro hit.
Flower of Paradise Lost (4-Piece) – Aggravate Alternative
Another strong option in Aggravate teams. It provides Elemental Mastery and increases the damage of Bloom, Hyperbloom, Burgeon, Quicken, Aggravate, Spread, and Burning reactions. For Aggravate-focused Keqing builds, this competes closely with Gilded Dreams depending on the specific team.
Recommended Artifact Main Stats
- Sands: ATK% (standard) or Elemental Mastery (Aggravate)
- Goblet: Electro DMG Bonus
- Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG (aim for roughly 1:2 ratio)
Recommended Substats
Prioritise CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG first, then ATK%, then Elemental Mastery (important in Aggravate builds). Energy Recharge is less critical since her A4 passive restores some ER after Burst and her Skill generates particles fairly well. Aim for 130–140% Energy Recharge if she is the only Electro character.
For Snezhnaya artifact context, see the Scarlet Proof artifact guide and the Heart of the Furnace artifact guide for new domain sets that may benefit future Electro team builds.
Keqing Constellations Guide
Keqing is a Standard Banner character, so constellations come passively over time. Do not spend limited wishes chasing her constellations. As a general rule, her Constellations offer small incremental gains rather than large power spikes. C4 and C6 are the most valuable, but even these are modest compared to limited characters.
- C1 – Thundering Might: When recasting Stellar Restoration while a Lightning Stiletto is present, Keqing deals 50% of her ATK as AoE Electro damage at both the starting point and end point of her teleport. Adds a small burst of extra Electro damage during her Skill rotation.
- C2 – Keen Extraction: When Keqing’s Normal and Charged Attacks hit opponents affected by Electro, they have a 50% chance of producing an Elemental Particle. This can only occur once every 5 seconds. Helps with Energy Recharge slightly but is not a dramatic improvement.
- C3 – Foreseen Reformation: Increases the level of Starward Sword (Burst) by 3, up to a maximum of level 15. A standard talent level increase constellation.
- C4 – Attunement (Best Practical Constellation): For 10 seconds after Keqing triggers an Electro-related Elemental Reaction, her ATK is increased by 25%. Because Keqing triggers Electro reactions constantly in Aggravate and Electro-Charged teams, this ATK buff is effectively a permanent bonus during combat. It is her most impactful constellation in practice.
- C5 – Beckoning Stars: Increases the level of Stellar Restoration (Elemental Skill) by 3, up to a maximum of level 15. A useful boost to her most important talent.
- C6 – Tenacious Star (Biggest Upgrade): When initiating a Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst, Keqing gains a 6% Electro DMG Bonus for 8 seconds. Each source of this effect is tracked independently, meaning she can stack up to four applications simultaneously for up to 24% Electro DMG Bonus during active combat. This is her most significant constellation and the one that increases her ceiling the most.
Keqing’s Best Team Compositions
Keqing is a flexible on-field DPS who can fit into Electro reaction teams and standard buff teams. Her strongest compositions take advantage of Aggravate and, more recently, Lunar-Charged with Ineffa.
Aggravate Keqing Team (Current Best)
Aggravate is Keqing’s best reaction archetype. When a Quicken aura is present on enemies (created by both Dendro and Electro hitting them), triggering the reaction with an Electro hit adds a flat damage bonus to that hit, scaled by Elemental Mastery. Since Keqing hits rapidly with Electro-infused attacks, this bonus applies constantly and adds up to meaningful DPS gains.
- Keqing + Nahida + Fischl + Zhongli — One of the strongest setups. Nahida provides constant off-field Dendro application to keep Quicken aura active. Fischl offers additional off-field Electro damage and particle generation. Zhongli provides a universal shield and resistance shred via Geo resonance.
- Keqing + Nahida + Fischl + Kazuha — Swap Zhongli for Kazuha to gain Elemental Mastery buffs and Anemo RES shred via Viridescent Venerer. Great for boosting overall reaction damage.
- Keqing + Nahida + Kuki Shinobu + flex — Kuki steals some Hyperbloom procs, but she adds healing and Electro resonance. The flex slot can be a healer or another buffer.
Lunar-Charged Keqing Team (New and Powerful)
The arrival of Ineffa and the Lunar-Charged reaction has opened a strong new archetype for Keqing. Ineffa converts Electro-Charged into Lunar-Charged, a variant that can CRIT and scales from all participants’ stats. Keqing’s fast Electro application rate and high hit count make her a natural partner for this reaction. According to KQM theorycrafters, this archetype has become an incredibly strong option for Keqing when Lunar-Charged procs frequently enough to maintain full thundercloud uptime.
- Keqing + Ineffa + Columbina + Kazuha — Columbina provides Hydro for Lunar-Charged and buffs the reaction’s damage. Kazuha adds Elemental Mastery and RES shred. Keqing drives the on-field Electro to fuel the reaction loop.
- Keqing + Ineffa + Xilonen + Furina — Furina buffs team damage via Fanfare stacks and provides off-field Hydro. Xilonen adds RES shred and healing. A strong F2P-friendly variant if you lack Columbina.
Electro-Charged Team
Before Aggravate existed, Electro-Charged was Keqing’s go-to setup. It still works well and can be a fun playstyle, leaning more on ATK and CRIT stats rather than Elemental Mastery.
- Keqing + Xingqiu + Jean + Fischl — Xingqiu provides consistent off-field Hydro for Electro-Charged procs. Jean heals and holds Viridescent Venerer to shred RES. Fischl adds off-field Electro and particle generation.
- Keqing + Sangonomiya Kokomi + Fischl + flex — Kokomi provides healing and constant Hydro application. Fischl runs off-field Electro. The flex slot can be an Anemo buffer or a second Electro for Resonance.
Superconduct Physical Team (Legacy Build)
Physical Keqing with Superconduct is no longer recommended as her primary build. Electro Keqing in an Aggravate or Lunar-Charged team significantly outperforms Physical Keqing in the current meta. This section exists purely for players who built her this way early in the game.
Keqing Talent Priority
Recommended talent upgrade order: Normal Attack = Elemental Skill > Burst.
Her Normal and Charged Attacks are the core of her DPS, so upgrade that talent first. Stellar Restoration (Elemental Skill) is equally important since it enables her Electro infusion and deals damage itself. The Burst is a lower priority because it is mainly a rotation tool and brief buff window — its damage contribution is smaller than the other two talents. Level all three eventually for max output, but prioritise in the order above when resources are tight.
Keqing Ascension Materials
Here is everything you need to fully ascend Keqing to Level 90.
Gemstones (From Electro Hypostasis or Thunder Manifestation)
- 1x Vajrada Amethyst Sliver
- 9x Vajrada Amethyst Fragment
- 9x Vajrada Amethyst Chunk
- 6x Vajrada Amethyst Gemstone
Boss Drop
- 46x Lightning Prism (from Electro Hypostasis in Mondstadt)

Keqing Lore and Character Background
Keqing is the Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing, one of seven individuals who govern and manage Liyue’s affairs. She is known throughout Liyue for her efficiency, her sharp tongue, and her unwavering belief that humans — not gods — are responsible for the prosperity of their own civilisation. This puts her in a unique ideological position compared to many Liyue characters who deeply revere the Archon Rex Lapis.
She works tirelessly. Keqing regularly stays up late reviewing reports, designing city improvements, and micromanaging every aspect of governance she can reach. She genuinely believes that with enough hard work, humans can achieve greatness without divine assistance — and she lives that conviction every single day. Despite her perfectionist nature, she has a small soft side that comes through in certain story interactions, particularly in her hangout events and character stories.
Her relationship with Rex Lapis (Zhongli) has shifted as the story progressed. While she once viewed him critically for his influence over Liyue, events of the Archon Quest deepened her understanding of both the Archon and the value of cooperation. She is a complex, driven character who is one of the most fleshed-out members of the Liyue Qixing in the game’s lore.

Keqing Playstyle Tips and Rotation Advice
- Core rotation — Cast Stellar Restoration (Skill), then quickly follow with two or three Charged Attacks during the Electro infusion window, then recast the Skill to blink and extend the window. Practice this loop until it becomes fluid.
- Use your Burst strategically — Open rotations with her Burst to gain the A4 CRIT Rate and ER boost, then immediately go into your Skill and Charged Attack loop while the buff is active.
- Aggravate timing — In Aggravate teams, swap in your Dendro character first to apply Dendro and create a Quicken aura on enemies before switching to Keqing. This ensures your first Electro hit triggers Aggravate.
- Aim your Stiletto for grouping — Hold the Skill to aim the Lightning Stiletto precisely. You can use this for repositioning mid-combat or to group enemies by throwing it in a strategic direction.
- Stamina management — Keqing’s Charged Attacks consume stamina. Be mindful of your stamina bar during long fights. Use Normal Attacks to fill gaps when stamina runs low.
- Thundering Fury interaction — If using the 4-piece Thundering Fury set, the Skill cooldown reduction from triggering reactions stacks up quickly. Use this to recast your Skill more often and keep Electro infusion going.
