Crimson Desert’s movement system keeps getting better with every patch. Focused Aerial Roll is the latest addition — and it’s a big one. It lets Kliff cover massive distances at high speed mid-air, turning traversal across Pywel from a chore into something genuinely enjoyable.

What Is Focused Aerial Roll?
Focused Aerial Roll is a special movement ability exclusive to Kliff. Damiane and Oongka have their own movement tech and cannot use this skill.
It was added as an official ability in Patch 1.03.00, released on April 11, 2026. Interestingly, this skill started life as a community-discovered movement exploit — players figured out that combining Focus and Aerial Roll mid-air created a dramatic speed boost. Pearl Abyss patched the exploit out in version 1.02.00, but then brought it back the following week as a proper, intentional skill with its own unlock requirements.
The key change: the official version drains Spirit instead of Stamina, which is a worthwhile trade. Once active, Focused Aerial Roll propels Kliff forward at high speed. You can extend the duration by pressing dodge again at the right moment, which chains the movement further.
Prerequisites — What You Need to Unlock First
Focused Aerial Roll has three prerequisites. You need all of them before the ability appears in the skill tree.
1. Focus Lv. 3 — Found on the green Spirit skill tree. You first get Focus during the Chapter 2 main quest, The Reunion.
2. Flight Lv. 2 — Found on the red Health skill tree. Flight Lv. 1 is unlocked automatically during Chapter 1.
3. Aerial Roll — Also on the red Health skill tree. This one requires a bit of work to unlock.
How to Unlock Aerial Roll
Aerial Roll is tied to a specific boss fight in Chapter 5. During the main quest Guest Unbidden, you’ll fight a boss called the Crowcaller — twice. Watch the Crowcaller use Aerial Roll during either of those fights. A learning bar will appear on screen as you observe the move. Once the bar fills, the skill becomes available to you.
You’ll also need Flight Lv. 1 unlocked before Aerial Roll becomes purchasable. Once Flight Lv. 1 is active, spend 1 Abyss Artifact to finalize the Aerial Roll unlock if you don’t learn it fully through observation.
Note: You don’t have to wait for the story chapters to get these skills. All of them can be unlocked early by spending Abyss Artifacts in the skill tree. And if you ever want to reconfigure your build, you can convert Abyss Artifacts into Faded Abyss Artifacts to refund spent skills.
How to Unlock Focused Aerial Roll in the Skill Tree
Once you have Focus Lv. 3, Flight Lv. 2, and Aerial Roll all unlocked:
- Open your skill tree
- Navigate to the aerial or mobility skill branch
- Look for Focused Aerial Roll as an upgrade node — it will be visible now that you meet the prerequisites
- Spend the required Abyss Artifacts to unlock it
How to Use Focused Aerial Roll
Using it is a two-step input. First you need to be airborne — jump, double jump, or use Aerial Force Palm to get into the air and activate Flight.
Then:
Step 1: Activate Focus while flying
Step 2: Immediately press the dodge key to launch into Focused Aerial Roll
You’ll fire forward at high speed. The flight lasts as long as you have Spirit. To extend it further, press dodge again repeatedly at the right moment to chain the movement.

- Dodge to trigger Focused Aerial Roll: Circle
Xbox:
- Activate Focus: L3 + R3

Why Focused Aerial Roll Is Worth Getting
Before this skill, flying around Pywel was decent but not fast. Focused Aerial Roll changes that completely. You can now cross large stretches of the map in the air without burning through your Stamina bar — since it uses Spirit instead, and Spirit regenerates at a solid pace.
It’s also useful in combat. Mid-air evasion at high speed gives you a much better escape option from dangerous boss attacks or crowd situations. This is especially handy in Abyss zones where you have limited recovery options.
It stacks well with other traversal upgrades you’ve already picked up. If you have Double Jump unlocked, combining it with Focused Aerial Roll makes Kliff one of the most mobile characters in any open-world game right now.
