The Penguin Mission Overview
In Chapter 2 of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Batman and Catwoman head to the Arctic World exhibit to track down Oswald Cobblepot — The Penguin. The mission is packed with icy traps, exploding penguin enemies, and a handful of well-hidden collectibles.
This is one of the more collectible-heavy missions in the game. You need to find:
- 5 Rubber Ducks
- 5 WayneTech Caches
- 1 Red Brick (Gothic)
Most of these follow the natural path through the level. But a few can be easy to walk right past. This guide covers every single one, in the order you will find them.
All 5 Rubber Duck Locations – The Penguin Mission
Rubber Duck 1 – Right at the Start

This one is impossible to miss. At the very beginning of the mission, Catwoman scales the wall and pulls the lever to open the shutter doors. Walk through them and the first Rubber Duck is sitting directly in front of you in the path.
Rubber Duck 2 – Flooded Room, Left Side

After you deal with the Ice Trap and the Fire Trap, you drop down into a room with enemies waiting. As soon as you land, look immediately to your left. There is a small pool of water and the Rubber Duck is floating right in it.
Rubber Duck 3 – On Top of the Penguin Portrait

After the exploding penguin ambush, crawl through the vent that opens up. When you climb out on the other side, look up at the back wall. The third Rubber Duck is sitting on top of a large portrait painting of The Penguin. It is in the upper corner — look up and you will spot it easily.
Rubber Duck 4 – Middle of the Lake Puzzle

You will reach a flooded chamber with a puzzle involving the water. There is a small island in the middle of the area. The Rubber Duck sits right on top of it. It is clearly visible from the walkway around the edge. Hit it with any ranged attack to collect it.
Rubber Duck 5 – Near the Security Cameras Room

Disable the armored security cameras to unlock the next open room. Once you are inside, head toward the right-hand corner near the back wall. The fifth and final Rubber Duck is there, close to a submarine or deep sea rover display.
Collecting all 5 unlocks the Rubber Duck Batcave Trophy — which is actually the same vehicle The Penguin rides during his boss fight. Pretty cool reward.
The Penguin Red Brick Location – Gothic Costume Style

The Red Brick in this mission unlocks the Gothic costume color style for all characters. It takes a few steps to get it, but it is very doable once you know what to do.
How to Get the Red Brick in The Penguin Mission
- After the exploding penguin fight, enter the storage room where you found Rubber Duck 3 (on the Penguin portrait). You will see the Red Brick sitting inside a cage behind metal bars.
- Destroy the boxes in the room to uncover an underfloor vent. Crawl through it.
- Switch to Catwoman in the next room. She needs to cut the glass case that holds a red umbrella using her whip ability.
- Take the red umbrella and place it in the machine in the middle of the room. This replaces the yellow umbrella already in it.
- Use Catwoman’s whip on the coil on the right side. Keep whipping until the umbrella tip is pointing directly at the caged Red Brick. Match the angle shown on the floor paint diagram in the room.
- Once the umbrella is aimed correctly, jump on the pressure pad on the left to fire and blow the cage open.
- Grab the Red Brick.
It sounds involved but once you do it step by step it only takes a minute or two. The floor diagram is your best hint — it tells you exactly where the umbrella needs to point.

All 5 WayneTech Cache Locations – The Penguin Mission
Each cache gives you one WayneTech Chip, which you spend on gadget and weapon upgrades at any workbench. Here is where to find all five in the Arctic World.
WayneTech Cache 1 – Explosive Penguin Combat Area

During the first encounter with the miniature explosive penguins, there is a cache up on a ledge nearby. You need a jump pad to reach it. Build or find the trampoline by destroying the crate on the ledge to the right of the water pool where you found Rubber Duck 2.
WayneTech Cache 2 – Behind the Explosive Gel Wall

Near the entrance area where the burst pipe and armored cameras are located, turn the valve on the wall from cold to hot. This melts the ice blocking a wall. Now use Batman’s Explosive Gel to blow open the brick wall and the cache is behind it.
WayneTech Cache 3 – Ice Display Cases Room, Batarang Puzzle

Go to the left room where you see frozen ice display cases. Have Batman stand on the platform with the target marker on it. Then throw a Batarang at the cracked display case. This kicks off the puzzle to open the cache in this area.
WayneTech Cache 4 – Locked Grate with Cat Flap

Toward the later part of the level, you will find a cache locked behind a grate. There is a cat flap underneath it. Before sending the cat in, have Batman follow the nearby window to find a crack in the glass. Throw a Batarang at the target inside through the crack. Then switch to Catwoman and use Call Kitty to send a cat through the cat flap. The cat picks up the key inside and brings it back. Use the key to open the grate and collect the cache.
WayneTech Cache 5 – Fire Trap Melt Puzzle

Near the room with the armored security cameras and close to Rubber Duck 5, press the red button to open a locked crate. A fresh wave of explosive penguins comes out — defeat them. Behind them is a valve wheel. Carry the valve back to the entrance of the room and mount it on the wall stem. Turn it from cold to hot (fire setting) to melt the icy brickwork blocking the final WayneTech Cache.

Tips for Playing The Penguin Mission
- Switch characters often. Many puzzles in this mission require you to swap between Batman and Catwoman. Do not try to force it with just one character.
- Use your sense ability. When you are stuck near a locked cache, activate the sense ability. It reveals cables and puzzle links that are otherwise invisible.
- Hit Rubber Ducks with ranged attacks. Some are out of reach for melee. A quick Batarang throw does the job.
- The floor diagram is a hint. In the Red Brick room, the painted diagram on the floor literally shows you the umbrella angle. Follow it exactly.
- Do not rush past the vent after the penguin ambush. Rubber Duck 3 and the Red Brick puzzle are both very close to each other in that storage room. Explore carefully before moving on.
