TL;DR
- The Counting Room Vault is inside Heavenly Luck Casino in Cheongun Village, map grid F4.
- The key is an Epic-rarity item — main reward from Operation Silent Ledger.
- It also drops randomly from loot containers and enemies at high-threat POIs.
- The vault door is on the main floor, behind the Cashier area — not the basement drill vault from Silent Ledger.
- Loot inside includes rifles, gear pieces, safes, cash, and rare items like a Gold Skull or Gold Bar.
What Is the Counting Room Vault Key in MW4 DMZ?
The Counting Room Vault Key is an Epic-rarity key in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ. Its in-game description reads: “F4 — Unlocks the counting room’s vault on the main floor of the Heavenly Luck Casino within Cheongun Village.”
It is a single-use consumable that sits in your Stash between deployments. Always place it in a Secure Slot before you drop in. Any key carried outside a secure slot is lost if you die or fail to exfil.
One important thing to understand right away — this key does not open the big circular vault you drill during Operation Silent Ledger. Both are inside the same casino building, but they are completely different rooms. A lot of players end up at the wrong door because of this.

How to Get the Counting Room Vault Key in MW4 DMZ
There are two ways to get this key. One is reliable. The other is RNG-based but still worth knowing about.
Method 1 – Complete Operation Silent Ledger
Operation Silent Ledger is the most consistent way to get the Counting Room Vault Key. It is listed as a mission reward on the story mission screen. The reward list includes a Gold Bar, a Polaris Dagor A1, cash, and one Counting Room Vault Key.
The mission name on screen truncates the key reward into two parts — “Counting R…” and “…Room Vault” — but it is the same key. Once you complete Silent Ledger, the key goes straight into your Stash.
Note that Silent Ledger sends you into the casino basement for the printing plates. The Counting Room Vault Key it rewards is for the main floor vault — a separate door entirely. So completing this mission essentially gives you two reasons to visit the same casino.

Method 2 – Random Loot Drop
The Counting Room Vault Key can also appear as a random field drop from loot containers and enemies. There is no guaranteed spawn point, but two specific locations have been confirmed by community reports:
- Industrial Locker at the Rice Mill, Imjin Farmland — one of the more commonly reported field drops for this key.
- Military Locker inside Haksan School Armory, Deadtown — this room has its own armory key requirement, so it is not a simple grab. The key is not guaranteed here either.
In general, looting high-threat POIs improves your chances of finding Epic-rarity keys like this one. The casino itself, the prison, and the air base are all good areas to hit if you are farming for keys.

Where Is the Counting Room Vault in MW4 DMZ?
The Counting Room Vault is inside Heavenly Luck Casino in Cheongun Village, located at map grid F4 on the Hajin map. It is rated a HIGH threat POI, so expect heavy enemy presence inside and around the building.

Exact Route to the Vault Door
Getting to the right door is the part most players get wrong. Follow these steps:
- Enter the casino through the south lobby (front entrance).
- Turn right into the east wing — away from the main gambling floor.
- Go through the double doors and follow the corridor.
- Look for a dark wooden door with keypad hardware and a fingerprint reader.
- The interact prompt will read: HEAVENLY LUCK CASINO COUNTING ROOM – UNLOCK.
- Hold the interact button to use the key. You get 300 XP and a “DOOR UNLOCKED” message.
The door is in the staff offices behind the Cashier shopfront — not on the gambling floor itself, and definitely not in the basement parking area. If you are seeing a basement vault or a drill prompt, you are in the wrong spot.
A separate key called the Vault Armory opens a small armory under the casino in the underground parking garage. That is a completely different door and a different key.
Don’t Confuse It With the Silent Ledger Basement Vault
This is worth repeating. The large circular vault in the casino basement — the one tied to Operation Silent Ledger — is not opened with the Counting Room Vault Key. That vault uses a drill mechanic during the mission, not a key. The Counting Room door is on the main floor, in the back-of-house staff area.

What’s Inside the Counting Room Vault?
Once you are inside, the room is split into a storage area and a back vault room lined with safe-deposit boxes and caches. It is small but packed. Here is what players have reported finding:
- 2 Rifles — weapon drops from the room’s cases and lockers
- 3 Gear pieces — armor, equipment, or tactical items
- Throwables — a handful of grenades or similar
- Cash — roughly $900 in loose cash per run
- 3 Caches and military bags with the possibility of Legendary loot
- 2 Safes in the back room — these can contain a Gold Skull, a Gold Bar, or high-value rare items
- A weapons locker — can contain a 3D printer recipe
One run has been estimated at around $6,450 in total item value plus the $900 in loose cash. That puts the room at a solid but not spectacular yield — it sits well below the 12 cash bags in the Silent Ledger basement vault, each worth $1,500 individually. Still, the Gold Skull and Legendary loot potential make it worth the trip if you already have the key.
Loot is not fixed — containers are randomized each deployment. The cash and gear pieces are the most consistent drops. The Gold Skull or Gold Bar in the safe is possible but not guaranteed.
Watch the doorway while you loot. The room has one entrance and enemies can push through it after you unlock the door. Clear the surrounding area before you go in, especially the staff corridor.

Tips Before You Go In
- Store the key in a Secure Slot before deploying — losing your backpack mid-match means losing the key otherwise.
- Mark the casino on your Tac-Map before dropping in — Cheongun Village is in the F4 grid area on the Hajin map.
- Clear the casino before opening the vault — the building is a HIGH threat POI with strong enemy presence.
- Bring a full loadout — the east wing corridor and staff area can be tight. Close-range weapons help.
- Don’t rush the loot — the safe and deposit boxes at the back of the vault room hold the best items. Take time to interact with everything.
- Plan your exfil early — Cheongun Village can be contested. Know your extraction route before you enter the casino.
