  • Some lanterns are already lit. Find and interact with the unlit ones to complete the puzzle.

  • Completing it opens the tomb, unlocks a fast travel point, and rewards you with an Abyss Artifact.

Crimson Desert hides Mysterious Zone puzzles all across Pywel, and the Hunter’s Cabin graveyard in Haunted Hills is one of the more atmospheric ones. You walk into a graveyard, see a sealed tomb at the top of a staircase, and get no instructions at all on what to do next.

If you’ve been walking around clicking on graves and getting nowhere, here’s exactly what you need to do.

Where Is the Hunter’s Cabin Graveyard?

The Hunter’s Cabin area is located in the Haunted Hills region, northwest of Hernand City. On your map, the Mysterious Zone will be marked with a question mark icon — just like other ancient ruins challenges around Pywel.

When you arrive, you’ll see a graveyard with a small stone tomb at the top of a short flight of steps. The tomb entrance is completely walled off with bricks. There’s no obvious way in at first glance.

What Triggers When You Enter the Graveyard

As soon as you approach the graves, Kliff’s lantern will start to pulse and emit a blue glow. This is the game telling you there’s a Memory Fragment in the area.

You can raise your lantern to scan the area and uncover the memory. Once learned, equip your Visione helmet to watch it play out. It gives you a piece of lore tied to one of the graves — a small story about whoever is buried there.

Here’s the important thing: this memory is not part of the puzzle. It’s just extra world-building. Don’t spend too long trying to figure out how the memory connects to opening the tomb. It doesn’t. The actual puzzle is separate.

How to Solve the Hunter’s Cabin Graveyard Puzzle in Crimson Desert

The solution is straightforward once you know what you’re looking for.

Light all the stone lanterns in the graveyard.

There are five stone lanterns scattered around the graves. A few of them will already be lit when you arrive. The rest are unlit, and you need to interact with each one to light it manually.

Walk up to an unlit lantern and press the interact button. That’s it. No special skill or item is needed — just explore the graveyard and interact with every lantern you see that isn’t already burning.

Where Are the Unlit Lanterns?

The exact positions of the unlit lanterns can differ depending on your playthrough. In some runs, you’ll find one beside the stone staircase leading to the tomb and another to the east of the tomb itself. In others, the unlit ones may be in slightly different spots.

Because of this, the best approach is to do a full loop around the entire graveyard. Check every corner, every grave row, and the area near the tomb steps. There are only five total, so a thorough sweep won’t take long.

Tip: It’s easy to miss one lantern if you only check the obvious spots near the tomb. Check the outer edges of the graveyard too, especially near the treeline.

What Happens When All Lanterns Are Lit

Once the final lantern is lit, the brick wall blocking the tomb entrance will crumble and the door will open on its own.

Head inside the tomb. You’ll find an Abyss Cresset waiting for you.

Interacting with the Abyss Cresset does two things:

  1. Creates a fast travel point at the Hunter’s Cabin graveyard. This is especially useful since Haunted Hills is a busy area with multiple puzzles and points of interest nearby.
  2. Rewards you with an Abyss Artifact. These are used in your skill tree to unlock new abilities or boost your core stats. Every one you collect makes a difference.

Tips for This Puzzle

  • Don’t skip the Memory Fragment. It doesn’t help with the puzzle, but it adds context to the location and is worth watching for the lore alone.
  • Walk slowly through the graveyard. Lanterns are easy to miss in the dark, especially if you’re moving fast. Use your lantern to light up darker areas near the graves.
  • Check the staircase area carefully. The steps leading up to the tomb can block your view of a nearby lantern if you approach from the wrong angle.
  • Night makes this harder. If you’re having trouble spotting the unlit lanterns, try changing the time of day in Crimson Desert to get better visibility.

What Else Is Nearby in Haunted Hills

The Haunted Hills region is dense with content. Once you’ve wrapped up the Hunter’s Cabin graveyard puzzle, it’s worth staying in the area to explore more.

The Haunted Hill Ruins puzzle is located directly east of the graveyard’s Abyss Nexus. That one involves draining a flooded ruin using the Nature’s Snare skill, so it’s a very different type of challenge.
