The Sanctum of Atonement is one of four Sanctums that Bari, the Witch of Kindness, asks you to cleanse in Crimson Desert. It sits in Hernand, occupied by Antumbra worshippers who have corrupted the ancient ruins. Your job is to drive them out, find two Fusion Reactor Cores, and power the generator back up.

This is part of the broader Hernand Witches faction questline. You can track all related tasks under Journal > Faction Quests > Hernand Witches. For an overview of the full game, check our Crimson Desert review.

Who Is the Witch of Kindness?

Before you can do anything at the Sanctum of Atonement, you must first meet Bari, the Witch of Kindness. She is not hard to find, but easy to ride past.

Head southeast of Wayward Woods and climb into the mountains near the Silverwolf Cave in Pailune. You will find a woman huddled under a small tent, shivering in front of an unlit brazier. Walk up and light the brazier to warm her. That woman is Bari.

Once she thaws out, she relocates to her cabin on a lake south of the Silver Wolf Mountain. Visit her there, accept her cleansing quest, and the Sanctum of Atonement will become active. Without doing this first, you can defeat enemies at the Sanctum but the puzzle will not trigger.

For a full breakdown of all witch locations and their sanctums, see our Crimson Desert all witches locations guide.

Sanctum of Atonement Location in Crimson Desert

The Sanctum of Atonement is southwest of Haunted Hill in Hernand. On your map, look north of the first “A” in Hernand to get your bearings.

There is an Abyss Nexus fast travel point northeast of the Sanctum. If you have already activated it, use it to teleport in quickly. Otherwise, ride out on your mount.

How to Liberate the Sanctum of Atonement

When you arrive, the Sanctum is overrun by Antumbra worshippers. These are zealots tied to the dark side of the Abyss. Expect melee fighters, ranged attackers, and flying enemies in the mix.

You cannot interact with any puzzle element until all of them are eliminated. Watch the green liberation bar on the left side of your screen and keep fighting until it drops to zero.

A few useful tips for the fight:

  • Flying enemies are annoying. Hit them with arrows first to bring them down from the sky, then follow up with melee. The Crowcaller sword ability also works great here since its projectile homes in on airborne targets. See our Crowcaller quest guide if you do not have it yet.
  • Summon a companion. If the numbers feel overwhelming, call in backup. See our all characters and companions guide for help managing your roster.
  • Use your best attack skills. Any combat style works here. If you need to brush up on your abilities, check our best skills to level up first guide.

Once the bar is empty, the puzzle becomes active.

How to Cleanse the Sanctum of Atonement in Crimson Desert

Cleansing the Sanctum requires finding two Fusion Reactor Cores and installing them into the generator. Here is the complete step-by-step walkthrough.

Step 1: Find Fusion Reactor Core LIV-I

Head to the marked location on your map. Look for a room slightly to the north of the main structure and enter it. Inside, you will find the first Fusion Reactor Core: LIV-I floating in the room.

Use your Axiom Force to grab it, then seal it inside your Kuku Pot. Head back outside.

Step 2: Find Fusion Reactor Core III

From outside, locate the gap in the wall nearby. Step through it and look upward. The Fusion Reactor Core: III is up there.

Use Axiom Force again to pull it down and seal it inside your Kuku Pot. Now you have both Cores.

Step 3: Fix the Generator

Head to the generator location. If you cannot find it on your own, open your Journal, go to the Darkness over the Sanctum section, and mark the Sanctum of Atonement quest. A waypoint will appear on your map pointing directly to it.

At the generator, unseal both Fusion Reactor Cores from your Kuku Pot. Use Axiom Force to drag the first Core toward its designated slot. Watch for a green leaf particle effect — it appears when the Core is lined up correctly. Once you see it, use Force Palm or Aerial Force Palm to push the Core into place. Repeat with the second Core.

Both must be locked in before the generator activates.

Important: Do not wander far while doing this. If you drop a Core and move too far away from it, the game will despawn it. If that happens, you will need to travel back to your base camp and pay a small fee at the Lost Item bin to recover it. Our Lost Loot guide covers exactly how to do that.

Sanctum of Atonement Rewards

Once the generator powers up, Bari the Witch of Kindness appears. She thanks you for cleansing the Sanctum and rewards you with two Kuku Blueprints:

  • Blueprint: Kuku Watcher Pack
  • Blueprint: Kuku Propeller Spear

These blueprints can be used to craft powerful Kuku-infused equipment at a blacksmith. To make the most of them, see our guide on how to craft the Kuku Pack and Kuku Rocket Pack in Crimson Desert.

Cleansing all four of Bari’s Sanctums also earns you a Witch’s Token. You will need tokens from all four witches — Elowen, Bari, Lyselia, and Areciel — to open the door at the Wayward Woods Witch Hideout. Inside waits the White Crow, who unlocks the most powerful Abyss-related abilities in the game.

Bonus Chest: Light the Lanterns

Do not leave right after the Witch of Kindness departs. There is a free reward waiting near the generator.

Look for two lanterns sitting beside it. Light both of them. This opens a previously blocked room nearby. Go inside and open the chest to collect a shield and a Refined Palmar Pill.

Small bonus, but worth two seconds of your time. If you want more healing items, check our guide on how to get and use Palmar Pills in Crimson Desert.

Tips Before You Start

  • Bring healing food. The enemy clear can wear you down fast, especially with flying ranged attackers in the mix. See how to cook the best healing food in Crimson Desert to stock up.
  • Have Axiom Force unlocked and ready. You cannot complete this puzzle without it.
  • Mark the quest in your Journal. If the generator location is not obvious, the quest marker saves a lot of searching.
  • Do not drop puzzle items and walk away. The game despawns them quickly if you move too far.
  • Gear up beforehand. If your equipment feels underpowered, check our best early build guide and our tips on how to get better equipment.

Why Cleansing Sanctums Matters

Sanctums are not just side content. Each one you cleanse counts toward 100% game completion and unlocks trophies and achievements. More importantly, completing all of a witch’s sanctums earns her Witch’s Token. All four tokens are required to reach the hidden White Crow and unlock the endgame Abyss capabilities.

The Sanctum of Atonement also contributes to the overall Hernand Witches faction quest, which you can track at any time through your Journal.
