TL;DR
- Golden Star is the Chapter 11 boss in the quest Master of a Forgotten Land (quest 152)

- Fill the stun meter to knock it down, then attack its head or core
- When it lands on the lower right wall, hit its claw directly — much more damage than spears
- Don’t die — you respawn at the start of the fortress and have to redo everything
- Beating Golden Star unlocks Blackstar, your dragon mount
What Is the Golden Star Boss in Crimson Desert?
Golden Star is the main story boss in Master of a Forgotten Land, the 152nd main quest in Crimson Desert. It falls under Chapter 11: Truth and Reality, in the Foreboding Shadow sub-chapter.
You need to finish the Truth and Lies quest before this one unlocks. The quest description is straightforward: defeat Golden Star to obtain its power core, which is needed to destroy the Flying Fortress Orbian.
After this fight, the next quest is Whispers in the Wind, which leads directly into the Flying Fortress Orbian.
How to Prepare for the Golden Star Boss Fight
Before entering the fight, get these sorted:
Bring 100+ Grilled Meat. Golden Star hits hard and the fight takes a while. You need a lot of healing. Buy from a meat vendor in Hernand or cook it yourself. See our best healing food guide.
Bring Palmer Pills. If you die during this fight, you respawn at the start of the entire fortress and have to redo the whole quest from scratch. A Palmer Pill revives you on the spot and saves you from all that backtracking. See our guide on how to get and use Palmar Pills.
Have your equipment reinforced. The better your gear going in, the more damage you deal during the stun windows. See how to reinforce equipment in Crimson Desert.
Golden Star Boss Attacks in Crimson Desert
Golden Star has one health bar. Where it positions itself around the arena determines which attack it uses. Once you learn the pattern, it becomes predictable.
Here are the attacks to watch out for:
Fire Breath — Breathes a stream of fire directly at you. Move sideways fast.
Volcanic Eruption — Spews multiple flaming orbs across the arena. Keep moving and don’t stay still.
Flame Tornado — Creates a spinning vortex of fire that slowly pulls you toward it. Get away from it immediately.
Golem Summon — Flies high and drops multiple golem enemies into the arena. This increases the chaos significantly. Stay focused on spear collection and don’t let the golems overwhelm you.
The biggest rule for the whole fight: never stand still. Keep circling the arena constantly.
How to Beat Golden Star in Crimson Desert

Step 1 — Grab Marni Spears from the Blue Pillars
Normal sword attacks and arrows won’t work. Golden Star doesn’t stay grounded long enough for that.
Run to the edges of the arena. You’ll see metal pillars glowing blue — these are Marni Spear generators. Approach one and interact with it to grab a spear.
PC: Press E or F to pick up the spear PlayStation: Interact button Xbox: Interact button
Step 2 — Throw Spears to Fill the Stun Meter
With Marni’s Spear in hand:
- PlayStation: Hold L2 to aim, press R2 to throw
- Xbox: Hold LT to aim, press RT to throw
- PC: Hold RMB to aim, press LMB to throw
Each spear deals some damage but more importantly builds up Golden Star’s stun meter under its health bar. Keep throwing whenever you get a clear shot.
If you’re struggling to land hits, use the lock-on feature to keep Golden Star centered and improve your accuracy.
Spears regenerate automatically at the pillars. You will never run out. If you miss a throw, just go grab another.

Step 3 — Hit the Claw for Bonus Damage
Here’s a trick most players miss. When Golden Star lands on the lower wall on the right side of the arena and starts breathing fire, you can run up and attack its claw directly. This deals significantly more damage than throwing spears. Whenever you see this positioning, take full advantage of it.
Step 4 — Attack When It Falls
Once the stun meter fills, Golden Star crashes down into the arena. This is your window.
- Sprint to its head or core immediately
- Unload your hardest hitting attacks and combos
- When the on-screen prompt appears, press R1+R2 (PlayStation) / RB+RT (Xbox) / F (PC) to use Spirit for a powerful Finisher
- Watch for signs that it’s about to recover — disengage before it gets back up or you’ll get caught in its first attack
Step 5 — Repeat Until It Dies
After recovering, Golden Star flies back up and the cycle starts again. Go back to the pillars, grab spears, dodge attacks, fill the stun meter, and hit it when it drops.
Keep doing this and the fight ends fast. Stay mobile, stay healed, and don’t overcommit during the damage window.
