What Is Shadowbeak in Palworld?

Shadowbeak is Paldeck entry number 189 — a large, Dark-type quadruped that resembles a griffon. Its body is black with two massive wings, bird-like forelegs, and a spiked black ring with neon blue highlights around its midsection. The in-game Paldeck description captures it well: “Born from the depths of insanity, its very existence defies reason. Having lost all genetic ties to other Pals, one wonders if it could still even be considered a Pal.”

It is a Rarity 10 Pal — the highest rarity tier available — and one of the strongest combat and travel options in the endgame. It can serve as a flying mount and has a moveset built around high-damage Dark skills, including an exclusive ability called Divine Disaster II, which it learns at level 55.

Where to Find Shadowbeak in Palworld 1.0

Shadowbeak spawns exclusively at Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3, the high-level sanctuary island on the far eastern edge of the main map, near the large northeastern desert. Important: Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 is a restricted zone. Guards patrol the area and will attack on sight. Avoid engaging them — fly above the island and scan for Shadowbeak from the air before landing near a target.

How to Find Shadowbeak on the Island

Shadowbeak has a spawn rate of roughly 1 in every 20 Pals at Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3. It is rare, and you will not spot one immediately on most visits. The most efficient method is to fly a continuous loop around the entire perimeter of the sanctuary, scanning every Pal that appears.

Do not stop to fight every Pal you see. Engaging too many other Pals slows down the respawn cycle and makes finding Shadowbeak take longer. Only land and engage when you actually spot one. If you do a full circuit with no sign of Shadowbeak, fly away from the island briefly to reset the spawns, then return and start the loop again. How to Catch Shadowbeak in Palworld

Shadowbeak is a tough catch. It has high base Defense (140), which means you need to strip its HP down further than most Pals before a sphere throw has strong odds. Here is what to prepare before making the attempt:

• Use high-tier Pal Spheres. Ultra Spheres or better are recommended. Throwing a lower-tier sphere at a Level 50–55 Rarity 10 Pal will result in a lot of wasted attempts.

Can You Breed Shadowbeak in Palworld 1.0?

This is a major change in Palworld 1.0 that catches many players off guard. Shadowbeak can no longer be bred from combinations of different Pal species. Before 1.0, cross-species combinations involving Pals like Astegon and Kitsun could produce Shadowbeak. That method no longer works.

In Palworld 1.0, Shadowbeak can only be bred by pairing a male and female Shadowbeak together at a Breeding Farm. The resulting egg will be a Huge Dark Egg that can hatch into another Shadowbeak.
