TL;DR
- The Arena is on a small island southeast of the Desert Biome at approximately coordinates 631, 16. You need a flying or swimming Pal to reach it.

What Is the Arena in Palworld?
The Pal Arena is a dedicated battle structure where you can fight both AI-controlled NPC trainers and other players in structured 4v4 matches. It was introduced in the Sakurajima Update (v0.3.1) and expanded further with the Tides of Terraria update. It is one of the most compelling endgame activities in Palworld 1.0 because it offers a unique reward loop built around Battle Tickets — a currency you cannot earn anywhere else in the game.
The Arena has three modes: a solo and co-op PvE Challenge mode with ranked progression, a PvP mode for player vs player matches, and a Spectate mode to watch ongoing fights. There is no strict level requirement to enter, but the higher PvE ranks and competitive PvP demand a fully optimized team to win reliably.
Where to Find the Arena in Palworld
The Arena is located on a small island southeast of the Desert Biome, just below the Tower of the PIDF. The coordinates are approximately 631, 16. It sits off the coast and cannot be reached on foot — you need a flying or swimming Pal to cross the water.
The airborne route is the safer option. The ocean around the island has aggressive wild Water-type Pals that will attack swimming mounts, which can turn the trip into an unplanned fight. A flying mount handles the crossing cleanly. See our guide on the best flying mounts in Palworld 1.0 for the top options.
The nearest fast travel point before the island is the Eastern Wild Island waypoint, or the Thirst’s End fast travel point at approximately 686, 117. From there, mount up and head southwest over the water until you spot the island with statues atop a stone structure. That is the Arena.
Always unlock the Arena’s dedicated fast travel point on your first visit. It sits right by the entrance and makes every future trip instant rather than a long water crossing.
A public Palbox is available at the Arena entrance. Use it to manage and swap your Pal team before entering any fight without needing to go back to your base.
How to Enter the Arena and Choose a Mode
Walk up the stairs to the large Arena door and interact with it. You will be prompted to choose one of three modes:
- Challenge — PvE solo or co-op. Fight NPC trainer teams across six ranked difficulty tiers and earn RP and Battle Tickets for every win.
- PvP — Player vs player. Fight another player on the same server in a customizable match. Requires Multiplayer Mode enabled in your world settings.
- Spectate — Watch any ongoing Arena match on your server from the sidelines. Multiplayer only.
Solo players can only access Challenge mode. PvP and Spectate require other players to be present on the same server.
How Arena Fights Work — Battle Rules
Every Arena fight — whether PvE or PvP — follows the same core format:
- 4v4 format — Each side has one trainer and three Pals. You control your trainer directly during the fight while your selected Pals battle alongside you.
- Pal selection matters. Before entering, choose one main Pal and two sub Pals from your current party. The first Pal you pick is your main Pal — this is the one whose Partner Skill you can actively trigger during battle. The other two fight on their own.
- Win by defeating all three opponent Pals, or knock out the opposing trainer. Either condition ends the match in your favor.
- No lasting penalties. Items used during Arena fights and Pals that faint are fully restored to their previous state after the battle ends. You cannot lose Pals permanently in Arena fights, which makes it safe to experiment with different team compositions. Note that consumable items and weapons that use Pal Spheres or stat-boosting effects cannot be used inside the Arena.
- Pal order and Partner Skills are the key decisions. Positioning yourself to use your main Pal’s Partner Skill at the right moment — while your other two Pals apply pressure — is what separates a good Arena team from a great one.
PvE Challenge Mode — Ranks and Progression
The PvE Challenge mode is the main solo experience at the Arena. It uses a ranked progression system with six tiers you unlock progressively:
- Bronze — Starting rank. Low-level NPC teams. Easiest fights, lowest rewards.
- Silver — Moderate difficulty. Unlocked after climbing out of Bronze.
- Gold — Mid-tier challenge. NPC teams become more varied and capable.
- Platinum — Noticeably harder. Your team needs to be well-built to win consistently here.
- Diamond — High difficulty. Expect tough fights with capable NPC teams using strong Pals.
- Master — Top tier. NPC trainers here are genuinely strong. You need a fully optimized team with strong passive skills to win reliably. A total of 3800 RP is needed to reach Master rank.
You gain Rank Points (RP) for every win and lose RP for every loss. You can choose which rank tier to challenge each time you enter — fighting above your current rank gives more RP per win but carries more risk. Challenging below your rank gives reduced RP but is safer for farming Battle Tickets.
Your current RP is visible in the top-left corner of the Arena menu and also appears on the in-Arena leaderboard. Higher ranks award substantially more Battle Tickets per win, so pushing up the ladder as fast as your team allows is the most efficient way to stock up on the currency.

PvP Mode — Fighting Other Players
PvP Mode lets two players on the same server face off in the Arena. Your world settings must have Multiplayer Mode enabled. To start a PvP match, both players interact with the Arena door and join the same session — the process works similarly to assembling a group for a Tower Boss fight.
Before the match begins, both players can agree on customizable Battle Rules:
- Level Sync — Scales all players and Pals to the highest-level participant automatically. This levels the playing field between players at different progression stages and turns the fight into a test of team composition rather than raw grinding advantage.
- Pal Bans — Block specific Pals from being selected for the match. This lets players rule out dominant meta picks by mutual agreement before the fight starts.
- Damage Multipliers — Adjust how quickly trainers and Pals deal damage to each other.
- Server Admin Rules — On a dedicated server, admins can set universal Arena rules that apply to all PvP matches on that world.
Agreeing on a ruleset with your opponent before entering is standard practice for competitive matches. PvP wins reward Champion’s Emblems. On servers with gear-loss rules enabled, defeated players may also drop their equipped gear.
There is currently no cross-world matchmaking. You and your opponent must be on the same server to fight.

Battle Tickets and the Arena Merchant
Battle Tickets are the Arena’s exclusive currency, earned only by winning PvE Challenge matches. They cannot be purchased, crafted, or found anywhere else in the game. The more difficult the challenge tier you clear, the more tickets each win rewards.
The Arena Merchant stands just outside the Arena entrance and does not appear anywhere else on the map. He trades exclusively for Battle Tickets. His inventory includes some of the most valuable upgrade items in Palworld:
- Implants — Used at the Surgery Table to install specific passive skills on your Pals. Notable options include Musclehead (+30% attack), Ferocious (+20% attack), and Burly Body (defense boost). This is one of the few reliable ways to target specific passive skills rather than relying on RNG breeding. See our guide on all new passive skills in Palworld 1.0 for the full passive list.
- Skill Fruits — Teach specific active skills to your Pals. The Arena Merchant stocks exclusive Skill Fruits not easily found elsewhere, including Absolute Frost (an Ice-element skill). See our guide on how to get Skill Fruits in Palworld.
- Legendary Schematics — Blueprints for powerful weapons and gear. Purchasing Legendary Schematics here bypasses the need to farm them from rare Alpha Pal drops.
- Pal Reversers — Used to revert Pal condensation or reset certain Pal upgrades.
- Life Fruits and other consumables — Various useful items for Pal and character development.
- Pal Spheres — Various tiers available directly without needing crafting materials. Useful if you are short on spheres for catching.
- Cosmetic Armor Headpieces — Exclusive Arena-specific cosmetic items.
Battle Tickets cannot be carried over infinitely without purpose — save them for Legendary Schematics and Implants first. Those two categories offer the best endgame value and are the main reason to push your Challenge rank as high as possible.
Tips for Winning Arena Fights
- Level your Pals to the tier you are challenging. Arena NPC teams scale with rank. If your Pals are several levels below the current bracket, you will lose on stats alone before team composition even factors in. Focus on Pals at or above the recommended level for each rank tier.
- Your first Pal pick is your most important decision. The first Pal you choose becomes your main Pal — the one whose Partner Skill you control actively. Pick your strongest Partner Skill user in that slot. See our guide on the best Pals for combat for top Arena picks.
- Use the Statue of Power before serious runs. Investing in stat upgrades for your Arena Pals via the Statue of Power is one of the fastest ways to gain a meaningful advantage across all fight tiers.
- Install Implants for key passive skills. Musclehead, Ferocious, and Burly Body are the standout choices for combat Pals. Use the Surgery Table to install them on your main Arena team. Earning Battle Tickets to buy Implants from the Merchant is the cleanest way to target the exact passives you want.
- Condense your Pals before Diamond and Master. The Pal Essence Condenser upgrades your Pals’ base stats and Partner Skill effectiveness. At Diamond rank and above, condensed Pals have a significant edge. Read our guide on how to breed Alpha Pals to build the copies needed for condensing.
- Use Water, Ice, and Dragon types at Master rank. Master-rank NPC teams use a wide variety of Pals, but Water, Ice, and Dragon elements cover the most common weaknesses across the opponent pool at the top tier.
- Experiment freely — there is no penalty for losing. All Pals and items are restored after every fight. Use lower-ranked challenges to test new team compositions before committing to harder brackets.
- Push to Diamond and Master for tickets. The reward gap between Bronze and Master is significant. Farm easy ranks for quick wins if you need tickets now, but commit to climbing if you want to max out your Battle Ticket income over time.
