What Is a Celestial Sigil in Palworld?

A Celestial Sigil is a consumable summoning item added in the Tides of Terraria update. It functions the same way as the Slabs used to summon other raid bosses — place it in a Summoning Altar to begin the Moon Lord encounter. Each Celestial Sigil is used up when activated, so you need a fresh one for every attempt.

Unlike standard raid Slabs which require collecting fragments from dungeons and combining them, the Celestial Sigil is crafted directly from Hallowed Bars — which come from the same Terraria dungeon where you get the schematic. The whole process stays self-contained within that one dungeon run.

There are two versions of the Sigil:

• Celestial Sigil — The standard version, crafted from Hallowed Bars. Used to summon the Moon Lord at normal difficulty.
• Celestial Sigil (Master) — Earned by defeating the Moon Lord. Used to summon a harder Master version of the Moon Lord, which drops Legendary Schematics for Tides of Terraria equipment.

Step 1 — Find the Sealed Realm of Terraria Dungeon

Before you can get the schematic for the Celestial Sigil, you need to reach the Sealed Realm of Terraria. This is a large underground dungeon located on a small island southeast of Fisherman’s Point, at approximately coordinates -422, -795, just south of the Volcanic Biome.

The dungeon is recommended for players around level 45 or higher. It is massive — filled with interconnecting caves, Terraria-themed mobs including slimes and bats, and a complex layout that requires a fair amount of navigation. Bring strong Pals and be prepared for a long run before you find the boss room. A good flying mount helps navigate the dungeon areas efficiently.

Step 2 — Defeat the Eye of Cthulhu

Progress through the dungeon until you reach and defeat the Eye of Cthulhu, the level 45 boss at the end. This boss fight is not easy, but it is the key that opens the chests in the room beyond the boss encounter. Defeating the Eye of Cthulhu also drops Hallowed Bars directly, so the boss fight itself starts your Hallowed Bar stockpile.

Step 3 — Get the Celestial Sigil Schematic

After defeating the Eye of Cthulhu, the room beyond the boss opens. Inside, you will find two treasure chests near the exit portal. Opening these chests has a strong chance of dropping the Celestial Sigil Schematic.

The schematic is not guaranteed on the first run. Only one chest typically contains loot per visit, so you may need to clear the dungeon more than once. If you do not get the schematic, leave the dungeon and return after about 3 minutes — the dungeon resets and you can open the chests again. Most players report getting the schematic within a few runs.

Once the schematic is in your inventory, the recipe is permanently unlocked for crafting at any Workbench or Production Assembly Line — as long as the schematic stays in your inventory. The schematic itself is reusable, so you only need to find it once.

Step 4 — Farm Hallowed Bars

Every Celestial Sigil requires 100x Hallowed Bars to craft. These are found exclusively inside the Sealed Realm of Terraria dungeon. Hallowed Bars weigh nothing, so carry capacity is not a concern. Here is where to find them:

• Golden walls and pots throughout the dungeon — Break them as you explore. They are the most plentiful source and easy to gather while running toward the boss.
• Defeating and butchering Terraria-themed Pals — Slimes, bats, and other Terraria mobs inside the dungeon drop Hallowed Bars.
• Defeating the Eye of Cthulhu — The boss drops over 40 Hallowed Bars directly.
• Boss chests near the exit portal — The same chests that can give you the schematic also contain Hallowed Bars.

A single thorough dungeon run typically yields enough Hallowed Bars for one or two Celestial Sigils. Since you will need multiple Sigils for repeated Moon Lord runs — and each sigil costs 100 Hallowed Bars — plan to run the dungeon several times and stockpile a healthy reserve before your first summon.

Hallowed Bars are also used in several other Tides of Terraria crafting recipes, including the Terraprisma legendary sword. Stock up generously while you are in the dungeon.

Step 5 — Craft the Celestial Sigil

With the schematic in your inventory and 100 Hallowed Bars collected, head to any Workbench or Production Assembly Line at your base and craft the Celestial Sigil. The recipe is straightforward: 100x Hallowed Bars = 1x Celestial Sigil.

Craft multiple Sigils at once if you have the bars for it. The Moon Lord is one of the hardest raid bosses in the game, and you will likely want several attempts before you are clearing it reliably. Having two or three Sigils ready before your first summon saves you from having to run the dungeon again after a defeat.

Important: The Summoning Altar is consumed after one use. Build a new one for each Moon Lord attempt, and keep spare materials — Stone and Paldium Fragments — in a chest nearby so you can rebuild quickly without leaving the area.

How to Use the Celestial Sigil — Summoning the Moon Lord

Once you have a Celestial Sigil and a Summoning Altar placed, walk up to the altar and insert the Sigil to start the Moon Lord raid. The boss spawns immediately at the altar location.

You have two location options for the fight:

• Inside one of your bases — Lets you use pre-built structures for cover and positioning advantage. The downside is that the Moon Lord’s AoE attacks will damage and potentially destroy your base structures. Use a dedicated raid base with minimal buildings rather than your main settlement.
• A dedicated raid arena — Gives you more open space to work with and protects your main base from destruction.

Strongly recommended: Build the Summoning Altar in a separate, empty base far from your main operation. The Moon Lord’s area-of-effect blasts level nearby structures. Keep crafting materials in a chest there so you can rebuild the altar quickly for subsequent runs.

How to Beat the Moon Lord — Key Tips

The Moon Lord is the hardest raid boss in Palworld. It sits at level 50 with over 420,000 HP. Here is what you need to know before fighting it:

• It has no elemental type. There is no type advantage or weakness to exploit. Build your team entirely around raw damage output.
• You can only damage it at specific weak points. The Moon Lord is immune to attacks on its main body. You must destroy the three glowing eyes — one on its forehead and one in each hand — before the heart in its chest opens. Then focus all fire on the heart.
• Use ranged weapons. The Rocket Launcher, Guided Missile Launcher, and Laser Rifle are the most effective weapons for this fight. The Terraprisma is also excellent here because it can attack simultaneously while you use another weapon.
• Stay mobile. The Moon Lord has multiple AoE attacks including fireballs. Use a flying mount like Jetragon to stay airborne, dodge attacks, and reposition while your Pals hold its attention.
• Don’t stay directly under the boss. Its eye attacks fire downward — circle around the sides rather than hovering underneath.
• Use terrain and cover. The Moon Lord cannot penetrate through ground. Natural terrain and walls with gaps to fire through give you a major survivability advantage.
• Be at least level 60. Even though the Moon Lord is level 50, its HP and attack power make it a genuine endgame challenge. Going in under-leveled is a fast way to waste a Celestial Sigil.
• Condense your Pals beforehand. Using the Pal Essence Condenser to upgrade your strongest combat Pals increases their stats and Partner Skills, making the fight significantly easier and increasing your chance of clearing it within the time limit.
• You have 10 minutes. The Moon Lord despawns if not defeated within the time limit, and you lose your Celestial Sigil with nothing to show for it. Do not go in without a team capable of sustaining pressure for the full duration.

The Celestial Sigil (Master) drops automatically after defeating the Moon Lord with a standard Celestial Sigil. It works exactly the same way as the standard Sigil — place it in a Summoning Altar — but it summons a significantly harder Master version of the Moon Lord.

Clearing the Moon Lord (Master) rewards Legendary Schematics for Tides of Terraria equipment, removing the need to keep farming for lower-tier schematics from the dungeon. This is the endgame progression path for players who have already cleared the standard Moon Lord fight.
