TL;DR

  • The Odeck’s Protector is a samurai-style heavy plate armor set tied to the Forgotten General — one of the best-looking sets in the game.
  • You don’t need to fight any boss to get it. All 5 pieces are hidden in the open world.
  • Focus Force Palm (L3+R3+R3) is required to break metal walls and reach most pieces — unlock it before heading out.
  • The 5 pieces are: Plate Helm (Hexe Sanctuary), Plate Armor (Wayward Woods), Plate Gloves (Perwin Quarry), Plate Boots (Sanctum of Temperance), Plate Cloak (Blackbear’s Hideout).
  • Alternatively, you can get the full set as a reward for the Slumbering Soul quest — but that doesn’t unlock until past Chapter 8.

The Odeck’s Protector Armor Set is one of the most striking pieces of gear in all of Crimson Desert. It’s built around the Forgotten General — an ancient Odeck Tribe warrior — and carries a distinct samurai-knight aesthetic that stands out from everything else in the game. Beyond looking great, it delivers solid defense, useful Abyss Gear sockets, and bonuses that are genuinely helpful from mid-game onward.

The good news is you don’t need to defeat any boss or wait for a late-game quest to wear it. Every piece is sitting in a fixed location in the open world. You just need to know where to look.

Two Ways to Get the Full Set

There are two routes to assembling the Odeck’s Protector Armor Set.

The first is completing the Slumbering Soul quest, which is part of the Odeck Tribe faction questline. This rewards the full set at once, along with a matching awakened spirit weapon — a nice bonus. The catch is that this questline doesn’t open up until after Chapter 8, making it a late-game option at best.

The second route — and the one most players take — is collecting all five pieces individually from their open-world locations. This can be done much earlier, pieces can be grabbed in any order, and you don’t have to wait for story progression past where you currently are. If you want the armor now, this is the way.

What You Need Before You Start — Focus Force Palm

Most of the pieces are hidden behind metal walls in cave entrances and cliffsides. Standard sword swings and attacks do nothing to these walls. You have to use Focus Force Palm (L3+R3+R3) to enter a targeting state that reveals golden orbs embedded inside the wall. Strike the orbs with a Force Palm to blow the wall open.

Make sure you have this ability unlocked before heading out, or you’ll arrive at several locations with no way to access the loot. Our guide on how to get and use Focused Force Palm walks through everything you need.

Also come prepared with Spirit Potions. Focus Force Palm consumes Spirit, and getting hit while in Focus mode cancels the ability. Clear enemies from the area before using it on walls whenever possible.

All 5 Odeck’s Protector Armor Piece Locations

1. Protector Plate Helm — Hexe Sanctuary (Demeniss)

Stats: 8 Defense, 3 Refinement, pre-slotted Defense 3 Abyss Gear.

Head north of Demeniss toward the Hexe Sanctuary. Look for a cliff wall to the north. You’ll find a metal wall hiding a cave entrance in the cliff face. Use Focus Force Palm (L3+R3+R3) to locate the golden orbs inside. There are three of them — hit each one with a Force Palm strike to destroy the wall and open the cave.

Past the wall, you’ll find three Abyss Cells. Collect and seal them using Axiom Force while you’re here. Move deeper into the cave and the Treasure Chest on the right side holds the Protector Plate Helm. The cave sits between Hexe Sanctuary and Denn River, near a fast travel point, so it’s easy to reach on horseback.

2. Protector Plate Armor (Chest) — Wayward Woods (Pailune)

Stats: 13 Defense, 3 Refinement, 3 Sockets including Ice Resistance, Damage Reduction, and Defense 3. This is the highest-defense piece in the full set.

Head northwest of Pailune into the Wayward Woods. This area is foggy and atmospheric — look for a blocked entrance in the cliff wall, or an underground pit on the ground labeled the Four Pits of the Wayward Woods. Use Force Palm on the breakable wall or barrier at the entrance to open it.

Drop inside and follow the path down. Use Focus Force Palm to locate the golden orb behind the wall and release the attack to destroy it. The path opens automatically after that. The Treasure Chest at the bottom holds the Protector Plate Armor, along with a Palmar Pill and some Copper Ore.

3. Protector Plate Gloves — Perwin Quarry (Witchwoods, South of Hernand)

Stats: 18 Attack (a significant offensive boost), 3 Defense, 3 Refinement. Sockets include Health Regen and Climb Speed.

Travel south of Hernand through the Witchwoods. Continue further south until you reach Perwin Quarry. There’s a metal wall built into the cliffside here. Use Focus Force Palm to reveal the golden orb inside the wall and strike it to blow the entrance open.

Clear any enemies in the area before using Focus Force Palm — being hit mid-activation cancels the ability and wastes Spirit. With the wall down, follow the cave path to the Treasure Chest at the end. The Protector Plate Gloves are inside. 4. Protector Plate Boots — Sanctum of Temperance (South of Hernand)

Stats: 17 Attack, 5 Defense, 3 Refinement. Sockets include Movement Speed 1 and Damage Reduction.

The boots are the easiest piece to collect and the one most players grab first. Head south of Hernand to the Sanctum of Temperance. Go to the northeast side of the entrance from Windland Heights and take the stairs up. At the top, look for a window-like opening in the wall. Climb or head through it.

On the other side, there’s a second opening covered by bushes — easy to walk past on a first visit. Step through the vines or bushes and you’ll find a Treasure Chest inside holding the Protector Plate Boots. No Force Palm required here. Just good eyes.

The boots offer one of the best early Movement Speed bonuses in the game, making them especially useful for open-world traversal. Our guide on the Sanctum of Temperance puzzle solution is there if you want to clear the full sanctum while you’re in the area.

5. Protector Plate Cloak — Blackbear’s Hideout (Silver Wolf Mountain / South Pailune)

Stats: Notable lore item with situational combat bonuses. Found on the floor — not in a chest — so watch carefully.

This one is the trickiest of the five. Head to Silver Wolf Mountain east of Pailune, or find Blackbear’s Hideout in the southern region of Pailune near the riverbank. When you arrive, do not enter the obvious large cave at the back of the area. That’s not it.

Instead, look for a gap or crevice in the wall between a watchtower and a bridge below. There’s a section of wall that sticks out slightly — inside that gap is a ladder leading underground. Alternatively, look for a red wall and enter through the gap beside a broken cart nearby.

Once you’re inside, you’re in a single corridor packed with Black Bear enemies. Fight through them — the path doesn’t branch, so just keep moving. Watch for ceiling collapse sections as you descend. When you reach the large open chamber at the bottom, clear the enemies and head left from the bottom of the stairs. Keep moving left and look for a small hole in the floor. Drop down via the short ladder.

The Protector Plate Cloak is sitting loose on the floor at the bottom of this drop. It’s not in a chest, which makes it very easy to walk past without noticing. Pick it up and you have the full set.

Should You Wait for the Slumbering Soul Quest Instead?

For most players, no. Collecting the pieces individually gets you the full set well before Chapter 8, and the locations are manageable once you know where to go. The Slumbering Soul quest does give you the set in one reward alongside a matching awakened spirit weapon, which is a meaningful extra if you’re already deep into the Odeck Tribe faction content. But if you just want the armor — for the stats, the Abyss Gear sockets, or the look — grab the pieces from the open world and move on.

Tips for Collecting the Set Efficiently

Start with the Boots at the Sanctum of Temperance. They’re the easiest piece, need no special ability, and the Movement Speed bonus pays off immediately everywhere you go next.

After that, do the Gloves at Perwin Quarry, then the Helm at Hexe Sanctuary. Both are straightforward Focus Force Palm pickups. Save the Cloak at Blackbear’s Hideout for last — the hidden entrance and floor-drop item make it the easiest to miss, and knowing what to look for in advance saves a lot of confusion.

Always clear the surrounding enemies before activating Focus Force Palm on any metal wall. Being hit mid-activation cancels the ability and wastes your Spirit. Keep a few Spirit Potions handy as backup.

The Plate Armor in Wayward Woods is the highest-defense piece in the set and also has Ice Resistance built into its sockets — useful in northern frozen regions and certain Abyss zones. Prioritize refining it at a Smithy once you have it.
