Final Fantasy Resonance: All Dialogue Choices and Outcomes

Final Fantasy Resonance All Dialogue Choices and Outcomes

    TL;DR

    • There are 8 story dialogue choices in Final Fantasy Resonance — one for each party member.
    • Each choice gives a permanent stat bonus to that character. No take-backs.
    • Bonuses are small (+3 to a stat, +10 MP, or +30 HP) but they stick with the character forever.
    • Dialogue choices do not change the story. The ending is the same no matter what you pick.
    • Vision quiz answers are separate — they do not affect stats or which Vision you unlock.
    • Completing each character’s personal substory quest gives much larger permanent stat bonuses.

Do Dialogue Choices Matter in Final Fantasy Resonance?

Yes — but only in one specific way. Throughout the main story of Final Fantasy Resonance, you will come across eight key conversations, one for each party member. In each one, Rain responds on behalf of the group, and whatever you choose gives that character a small but permanent stat bonus.

These bonuses do not reset. They carry through the entire game. So if you pick Strength for Lasswell at the Rebel Hideout, he keeps that +3 Strength until the credits roll and beyond.

What they do not do is change the story. The plot plays out exactly the same regardless of what you say. No character leaves the party because of a harsh answer. No cutscene changes. These are purely a stat mechanic dressed up as dialogue.

For a look at every character these choices apply to, see our full party members guide.

All Dialogue Choices in Final Fantasy Resonance — Complete List

Rain — Earth Shrine (Chapter 1)

This is the very first dialogue choice in the game. It happens before Rain and the party enter the Earth Shrine during Chapter 1. Rain is discussing how the group should approach the mission.

    • “I’ll take point. Follow my lead.” — Rain gains +3 Strength
    • “We’re only here to check that everything is in order. Be ready to fall back if you sense danger.” — Rain gains +3 Stamina
    • “Cohesion is key. We need to be aware of each other’s situations.” — Rain gains +3 Spirit

Best pick: Rain is your tank and front-line fighter, so Stamina is the most practical choice for a defensive build. If you want him to deal more physical damage, go with Strength. Spirit is his weakest stat and the least impactful option here.

Learn more about building Rain in our Rain character guide.

    Fina — Siren’s Tower (Chapter 1)

This choice triggers after you complete Siren’s Tower and obtain the Siren Esper. The conversation happens back in Grandport as the party reflects on Fina’s role in the group going forward.

    • “Right, we’ll need to rely on your strength more than ever, Fina.” — Fina gains +10 MP
    • “Yeah, but not everything in fighting is about being on the offense. I’ll leave the defense to you, Fina.” — Fina gains +3 Stamina
    • “Don’t sell yourself short. We’re a team — you’re already doing an amazing job, Fina.” — Fina gains +3 Spirit

Best pick: Fina is your primary healer and the only character who can summon Espers. More MP means more heals and more casts before she runs dry. The +10 MP option is the strongest pick here, especially early in the game when her MP pool is smaller.

See our Fina character guide for her full skill list and best build.

Lid — Dilmagia Shipyard (Chapter 2)

Lid joins during Chapter 2 and her dialogue choice comes up in the first major cutscene at the start of Chapter 3, just as the party is about to leave Dilmagia. The conversation touches on Lid’s complicated feelings about her brother.

    • “No matter what happens, we’ll have your back.” — Lid gains +3 Strength
    • “There might be a reason behind your brother’s change.” — Lid gains +3 Magic
    • “Doesn’t matter how far away you are, siblings are still siblings.” — Lid gains +3 Stamina

Best pick: Lid is a physical Commando at heart, so Strength is the most consistent option. Her Mechabo-based abilities scale with physical attacks, and leaning into her damage role pays off more than raising Magic for a character who rarely needs to cast.

Nichol — Olderion, the Aquapolis (Chapter 3)

Nichol joins in Chapter 3, and his dialogue choice comes up during the final cutscene of that chapter in Olderion. The conversation is about how the party views Nichol’s contribution to the group.

    • “Give us some pointers on strategy again. We’re counting on you.” — Nichol gains +30 HP
    • “We’re a proper team now, so we’ve got your back!” — Nichol gains +3 Magic
    • “You be you, Nichol, and don’t hold back with the suggestions.” — Nichol gains +3 Speed

Best pick: Nichol’s highest stat is Magic, and boosting it makes his offensive casts hit harder if you ever want him to contribute damage alongside his Formations. The +3 Magic is the most versatile pick. The +30 HP is also valid if you want more survivability on your support character.

Lasswell — Rebel Hideout (Chapter 4)

This conversation triggers after you complete the Weapons Factory dungeon and return to the Rebel Hideout at the start of Chapter 4’s second half. Rain comments on how Lasswell has grown since the beginning of their journey.

    • “I noticed that your magic seems to have a little more kick to it, too.” — Lasswell gains +10 MP
    • “That battle with Ignis was intense. I’m sure something like that’ll leave its mark on you.” — Lasswell gains +3 Strength
    • “Seems to me like you’re moving quicker than before.” — Lasswell gains +3 Speed

Best pick: Lasswell is your best physical attacker and stagger specialist. His Strength stat is already the highest in the game for physical damage, so adding +3 Strength directly increases his damage output. This is the most straightforward choice for a damage-focused Lasswell build.

For his complete build, check our Lasswell character guide.

Jake — Zoldaad, the Imperial Capital (Chapter 4 / Chapter 5)

Jake joins during Chapter 4, and his dialogue choice comes up near the end of that chapter — or at the very beginning of Chapter 5 depending on pacing — after the major events in Zoldaad Castle and the conclusion of the Lazarov fight.

    • “Glad to have you. We’ll be counting on you.” — Jake gains +30 HP
    • “Your rifles will definitely come in handy.” — Jake gains +3 Strength
    • “Let’s fight for this world — together.” — Jake gains +3 Stamina

Best pick: Jake is your heavy physical damage dealer. His Strength stat is his defining attribute, and the +3 Strength option feeds directly into his role as a frontline attacker. If you want more durability — since Jake has no healing utility — the +30 HP is also a solid choice.

Our Jake character guide covers his Luck mechanic and best builds in detail.

Sakura — Village of Sunioo (Chapter 5)

Sakura joins in Chapter 5, and her dialogue choice comes up during the main story events early in the chapter while the party is in the Village of Sunioo. The conversation reflects on Sakura’s unique perspective as a centuries-old sage.

    • “With your magic at our side, we’ve got nothing to fear.” — Sakura gains +10 MP
    • “And you’re a wise person, Sakura. I can see it in the way you carry yourself.” — Sakura gains +3 Magic
    • “Yep, you’ll never be bored when you’re traveling with us, I guarantee it.” — Sakura gains +3 Spirit

Best pick: Sakura is the best magic damage dealer in the game. Her Magic stat is her entire identity, so +3 Magic is the most direct boost to her damage output. The +10 MP is also a strong choice given how MP-heavy her skill rotation is — especially in longer boss fights.

Check out the full Sakura character guide for her best Vision and ability setup.

Archwitch Fina — Research Center Ruins (Chapter 6)

This is the final story dialogue choice in the game. It triggers during Chapter 6 after you obtain the White Jade Stone in the Research Center Ruins. The conversation is a quieter, more personal exchange between Rain and Archwitch Fina.

    • “Yeah, you look sad.” — Archwitch Fina gains +10 MP
    • “Of course I’m worrying about you. Why wouldn’t I?” — Archwitch Fina gains +3 Magic
    • “I-I mean… sort of.” — Archwitch Fina gains +3 Spirit

Best pick: Archwitch Fina’s defining role is Dark magic damage and debuffing. Her Magic stat directly powers both. The +3 Magic is the most impactful choice for damage output, while +10 MP helps sustain her costly skill rotation including Dystopia and Witching Hour.

For everything about her kit, see our Archwitch Fina character guide.

Do Dialogue Choices Affect the Story in Final Fantasy Resonance?

No. Every story dialogue choice in Final Fantasy Resonance only affects stats. The main story plays out identically no matter which option you select. No character reacts differently in later scenes, no ending changes, and no content is locked or unlocked based on your answers.

Think of these moments as the game giving you control over how your characters develop, not over where the plot goes. It is a light roleplaying touch rather than a branching narrative system.

Vision Quiz Answers — Do These Matter?

Vision quizzes are completely separate from the story dialogue choices, and they work differently. When you visit a Crystal Sanctum to unlock a legacy Vision character — Cloud, Terra, Noctis, and the others — the Sanctum presents you with a short series of questions about that character’s story and personality.

The short answer: Vision quiz answers do not affect anything meaningful. You receive the exact same Vision regardless of which answers you pick. The Vision’s stats, role, abilities, and Resonance attack are all identical no matter what you choose. You cannot fail a quiz, and there are no correct or incorrect answers in any meaningful sense.

The only thing that can change is the closing dialogue from the Sanctum — a few lines of narrative flavor that describe your compatibility with the Vision. Some choices may alter how that dialogue is phrased, but the Vision itself is unchanged. After completing a Sanctum, you can interact with it again to replay the quiz and see how different answers change those closing lines if you are curious.

For more on the quiz specifically, see our dedicated guide: do Vision quiz answers change anything?

Character Substory Quests — Bigger Stat Rewards

Beyond the eight story dialogue choices, there is a second source of permanent stat bonuses worth knowing about: character substory quests. Every party member has their own personal substory that unlocks in Chapter 5 or later. Completing a character’s substory gives that character a much larger set of stat bonuses than any single dialogue choice.

These bonuses are fixed — there is no choice involved. But the rewards are significant:

    • Rain — A New Leaf (opens Chapter 7): HP +100, MP +30, Stamina +30, Strength +20
    • Lasswell — The Twin Titleholders (opens Chapter 7): HP +100, MP +30, Strength +30, Speed +20
    • Fina — Shimmering Reflections (opens Chapter 6): HP +100, MP +30, Spirit +30, Magic +20
    • Lid — Beyond the Blue (opens Chapter 5): HP +100, MP +30, Strength +25, Magic +25
    • Nichol — Nichol’s Duty (opens Chapter 5): HP +100, MP +30, Magic +30, Speed +20
    • Jake — Token Legacy (opens Chapter 5): HP +100, MP +30, Strength +30, Stamina +20
    • Sakura — Mysidia, Ever Blooming (opens Chapter 6): HP +100, MP +30, Magic +30, Spirit +20
    • Archwitch Fina — Last Respite (opens Chapter 5): HP +100, MP +30, Magic +30, Strength +20

These are the biggest free stat upgrades in the game, and they apply to every character equally in terms of the HP and MP gains. Do not skip them. Our full sub quests list will help you track down every substory as it unlocks.

Quick Summary — Best Dialogue Choices for Each Character

    • Rain (Earth Shrine) — Pick Stamina +3 for tanking, or Strength +3 for damage.
    • Fina (Siren’s Tower) — Pick MP +10. She needs MP more than anything.
    • Lid (Dilmagia) — Pick Strength +3 to support her physical Commando role.
    • Nichol (Olderion) — Pick Magic +3 for offensive flexibility, or HP +30 for survivability.
    • Lasswell (Rebel Hideout) — Pick Strength +3 to boost his physical damage output.
    • Jake (Zoldaad) — Pick Strength +3 to lean into his role as a damage dealer.
    • Sakura (Village of Sunioo) — Pick Magic +3 for stronger elemental damage, or MP +10 for longer fights.
    • Archwitch Fina (Research Center Ruins) — Pick Magic +3 for stronger Dark damage and debuff synergy.

These are general recommendations. If you are building a specific stat in a different direction — say, a more durable Sakura or a faster Lasswell — the other options are perfectly valid. The bonuses are small enough that none of them break anything.

Frequently Asked Questions — Dialogue Choices in Final Fantasy Resonance

Do dialogue choices matter in Final Fantasy Resonance?

Yes, but only for stats. Each of the eight story dialogue choices gives the named character a permanent stat bonus. They do not change the story, alter cutscenes, or unlock different content.

How many dialogue choices are in Final Fantasy Resonance?

There are eight story dialogue choices in total — one for each party member. Rain gets the first at the Earth Shrine in Chapter 1, and Archwitch Fina gets the last at the Research Center Ruins in Chapter 6.

Can you go back and change your dialogue choice?

No. Once you make a dialogue choice, the stat bonus is applied permanently. There is no way to undo it or replay the conversation for a different bonus.

Which dialogue choice is best for Rain?

Stamina +3 is the most practical for a tank-focused Rain build. If you want more damage output from him, Strength +3 is the alternative. Spirit is his weakest stat and the least impactful option.

Which dialogue choice is best for Fina?

MP +10 is the best pick. Fina is your healer and Esper summoner. More MP means she can cast more heals before running out, which matters most in the early and mid-game.

Do Vision quiz answers affect stats or which Vision you get?

No. Vision quiz answers do not change which Vision you unlock, and they do not affect that Vision’s stats, abilities, or Resonance attack. The only thing that may vary is a few lines of closing dialogue from the Sanctum — which is purely narrative and has no gameplay impact.

Are there other ways to permanently boost character stats?

Yes. Completing each character’s personal substory quest gives that character a large fixed stat bonus — including HP +100, MP +30, and significant increases to their best stats. These are separate from dialogue choices and much more impactful overall.

What is the biggest stat bonus from a dialogue choice?

The largest single bonuses are HP +30 (Nichol and Jake) and MP +10 (Fina, Lasswell, Sakura, Archwitch Fina). The +3 stat bonuses are smaller in raw number but can be more impactful depending on which stat matters most for that character.
