Pragmata How to Beat the LunaDigger – Sector 4 Boss Guide

Learn how to beat the LunaDigger boss in Pragmata Sector 4 (Lunum Mines). Full guide covering attack patterns, weak points, hacking tips, DigBits strategy, and final Critical Shot.

TL;DR

  • The LunaDigger is the Sector 4 boss at the end of the Lunum Mines.
  • The fight takes place in low gravity — movement feels different here.
  • The mouth is the primary weak point. Only attack when it surfaces.
  • Hack it immediately every time it comes out of the ground.
  • Use Heat and Drain hacks to slow it down and build the stun meter.
  • When the stun meter fills, land a Critical Shot for massive damage.
  • In Phase 2, hack DigBits and redirect them back at the boss.
  • Watch for red circles on the ground — dodge missile splash zones immediately.
  • Use the Impact Barrier to block lunges and stagger the boss.

The LunaDigger is one of the most unique boss fights in Pragmata. It is a giant mechanized worm that spends most of the fight underground, giving you only short windows to deal damage. There are no big exposed body parts to unload on freely. Every window is small. Every hit counts.

This is not a brute force fight. It rewards patience, timing, and smart use of Diana’s hacking. Once you understand the loop, it becomes very manageable.

How to Reach the LunaDigger

The LunaDigger is the final boss of the Lunum Mines, which is Sector 4 in Pragmata. You will encounter it before the actual boss fight too — it roams underground throughout the sector in sandy areas. If you walk on the sand, it will rush toward you. Standing on solid platforms will cause it to ignore you entirely.

You can choose to bait it out early and deal enough damage to repel it. This unlocks the Courage In Desperation achievement. However, that damage does not carry over to the real boss fight. Treat those early encounters as practice runs to learn how it moves.

The game signals the final fight clearly. There is a Shelter entrance right before the boss arena and an information board with tips just outside. Use both. Stop at the Shelter, top up your supplies, check your loadout, and read the board before going in.

Recommended Preparation

The LunaDigger is a ranged fight. It spends most of its time underground or at distance, so close-range weapons like the Shockwave Gun are not useful here. Bring weapons that deal strong burst damage in short windows.

Best weapons: The Photon Laser and the Charge Piercer are the top picks for this fight. The Photon Laser is great for pushing the boss into overheat quickly. The Charge Piercer deals high burst damage and is perfect for Critical Shots. The Homing Missile is also a solid choice. For the full breakdown, see our Pragmata best weapons loadout guide and Pragmata all weapons complete list.

Key tools: Bring the Impact Barrier — the game actually gives you a short tutorial on it before this fight, and for good reason. It blocks most of the LunaDigger’s attacks and staggers the boss on contact. The Stasis Net is also useful for creating damage windows. The Code Generator and Sticky Bombs become valuable in Phase 2 when the hacking matrix gets more complex.

Hacking upgrades: Make sure Diana’s hacking is upgraded before this fight. The better her hacking, the faster you build the stun meter. Check our Pragmata best firmware upgrades guide if you need to prioritize. Also see our Pragmata best mods guide for helpful mod slots.

The official game is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, and the official Capcom website.

LunaDigger Boss Overview

This fight takes place in low gravity. That changes how you move and position throughout the encounter. Get used to the floatier movement before the fight starts if you can.

The LunaDigger has no visible health bar during the early repel encounters in the sector, but the real boss fight does track its health normally. The fight has two phases. Phase 1 is about patience and reading its surfacing patterns. Phase 2 gets more aggressive and throws multiple threats at you simultaneously.

The core loop for both phases is the same: hack it when it surfaces, shoot the mouth, build the stun meter, land a Critical Shot. Everything else is just managing the threats around that loop.

LunaDigger Weak Point

The mouth is the primary weak point. When the LunaDigger surfaces or burrows, it briefly exposes its mouth. That is your window. Once you hack it, there is also a weak spot inside the mouth that deals extra damage when targeted precisely.

The mouth window is short. Do not hesitate when it opens. Have Diana’s hack ready to go the moment the boss surfaces so you can get into the Open state immediately and start dealing damage.

Phase 1 – Core Attack Patterns

In Phase 1, the LunaDigger spends most of the time underground and pops up to attack. The arena starts with tall crate structures around it with lifts on the sides. Use those lifts to reposition and get better angles on the boss.

Emerging Grab

The LunaDigger lunges toward you and tries to grab Hugh. If it catches you mid-hack, you have a few seconds to escape by performing a quick hack with Diana. The Impact Barrier is your best counter here — activate it just before the lunge and it will block the damage and stagger the boss at the same time.

Mouth Laser

The boss surfaces and fires a red laser from its mouth, sweeping it across the ground and upward. It can also perform this sweep in reverse, starting high and going down. Move laterally to avoid the sweep. Do not try to jump over it — move to the side instead.

Landing Slam

The LunaDigger looks toward your position and then launches itself mouth-first at you trying to land on top of you. Move as soon as it locks on. The landing has a damage radius so don’t stand near where it comes down.

The Core Phase 1 Loop

Every time the boss surfaces, hack it with Diana immediately. Use Heat and Drain hacks — these are the most effective against the LunaDigger. Once hacked, unload everything into the mouth. Every hit and hack builds the stun meter below the health bar. When the meter fills and turns purple, the LunaDigger gets stunned. That is your Critical Shot window. Use the Charge Piercer for the Critical Shot to deal maximum damage — up to 6000 damage in a single hit. Then go back to dodging and waiting for the next surface. Hack, shoot mouth, build meter, Critical Shot. Repeat.

Phase 2 – Missiles, DigBits, and Stacked Attacks

When the LunaDigger’s health drops below 50%, Phase 2 begins. There is no cutscene to signal it. You will know it has started when the attacks become more aggressive and new threats appear. The upper section of the body near the mouth also becomes exposed in this phase, giving you a slightly larger target when it is in the Open state.

Missile Rain

The boss rolls on the surface and fires multiple missiles into the air. They fall across the arena at random positions. Red circles on the ground mark where they are going to land. Move out of every red circle immediately using Hugh’s thrusters. Do not stop moving during this attack.

DigBit Deployment

The LunaDigger surfaces, spins, and drops small bladed robots called DigBits onto the ground. It then looks at you and roars, which triggers the DigBits to launch themselves at you. This is actually a huge opportunity. Hack the DigBits as they come toward you and redirect them back at the LunaDigger. Each redirected DigBit deals around 2000 damage and builds the stun meter fast. You do not need to redirect all of them — aim for one or two per wave and dodge the rest.

Stacked Attacks

This is the real challenge of Phase 2. The LunaDigger starts combining attacks at the same time. It can deploy DigBits, fire the Mouth Laser, and launch Missile Rain all in the same sequence. You are managing three threats while also trying to maintain your hacking loop. Prioritize dodging the Mouth Laser above everything else in this phase — if it catches you, it will lock you into the full stun duration. Use the Impact Barrier and Stasis Net to create breathing room when the pressure gets too high.

Final Kill – Critical Shot Finish

Once the LunaDigger’s health is fully depleted, you need to perform one final Critical Shot to finish the fight. The stun meter needs to be full and purple before you can land it. Keep hacking and shooting until the meter fills, then deliver the final Critical Shot. The fight ends there.

There is no hacking sequence finale like the Creator fight. Land the Critical Shot and it is over.

What You Get for Beating the LunaDigger

Beating the LunaDigger rewards you with Shelter License Key 4, which unlocks the final tier of upgrades at the Shelter. It also unlocks an additional Stamp Board in Cabin’s Stamp Club — and that board has two Red Gate Keys, so collect every Cabin Coin you can before moving forward. Hugh and Diana can now access the IDUS mainframe to continue the main story.
