How to Reach Chaos Forest in Crimson Desert

The Chaos Forest is not a standalone location you can just walk into. Your reward for reaching the top of the Spire of Insight is access to a portal that takes you directly to the Chaos Forest section of the Abyss.

So your first job is to finish the Spire of Insight. Check out our Spire of Insight puzzle guide if you need help getting to the top. Once you are at the top, interact with the Abyss Gate and step through. You will land directly on the Abyss Nexus inside Chaos Forest.

Tip: If anything goes wrong mid-puzzle, you can reset the whole thing by teleporting back to the Abyss Nexus at the start of Chaos Forest.

Chaos Forest Puzzle Solution – Step by Step

Step 1 – Open the Door with Nature’s Grasp

Upon arriving at the Chaos Forest Abyss, you will spot a door ahead. Approach the door and use the Nature’s Grasp skill to open it. Walk up the short staircase first, then lift the door out of the way. Head inside.

Step 2 – Burn the Thorns with Blinding Flash

Here you will see a bunch of thorns covering the area. Use the Focus Light portion of Blinding Flash to set them on fire and remove them. If you have a fire-imbued Power Core stored in your Kuku Pot, that works too. Just remember to store it again after.

Burning the thorns is important. It reveals two sockets on the right wall and a pool of water on the left. You need both of these in a moment.

Step 3 – Grab the Burning Chip and Cool It Down

Use your Axiom Force ability to grab the battery cell on the floating platform to the north. This battery cell is on fire, so in order to actually use it, you need to extinguish the fire. To extinguish the fire from the battery cell, dip it into the nearby pool of water.

Once it is cooled, carry it back to the socket near where you entered. Place the chip over the socket until you see leaves around it. Then go on top of the chip and use the Force Palm skill while in the air to push it into the socket.

One chip down, one to go.

You will also want to know your abilities well here. Our guide on how to use Axiom Force and how to use Blinding Flash can help if you are unsure.

Step 4 – Fly Across to the Other Side

Now you need to reach the far side of the area. Jump and use the Force Palm skill three times to get high up in the air, then use Flight to fly across.

Step 5 – Clear More Thorns and Find the Second Door

As you get to the other side, you will witness thorns again. Use the Blinding Flash skill to burn all the thorns and go to the door covered with thorns. Burn these thorns as well to reveal the door. Then use Nature’s Grasp again to lift it open.

Step 6 – Socket the Second Chip (Keep the Door Open)

Before you place the chip into the socket on the wall, you must keep the door open. To do so, carry the block from the room and place it underneath the door so it does not close.

This is the step most players miss. The door will shut on you and block the power line if you do not prop it open first.

Once done, use Axiom Force to place the chip over the socket. Jump up and use Flight to get in line with the chip, then use Force Palm to push the chip into the socket.

Step 7 – Power the Big Gear with Force Palm

Now that both square panels are providing uninterrupted power to the gear, you are just about done. Jump onto the gear between the two square panels and hold L2 to Resist, then hit the gear with Force Palm. If you do not resist before using Force Palm, you will be flung backwards into the pit below.

This activates the Abyss and completes the puzzle.

Chaos Forest Puzzle Reward

After completing the Chaos Forest puzzle, you will earn an Abyss Artifact just like all the other Abyss puzzles in the game. Abyss Artifacts are very useful as you can use them to increase your characters’ stats, use them for upgrading weapons, and even unlock new skills in the skill tree.

You also unlock a new skydiving point in this area and gain access to the next Abyss in the chain.

What Comes After Chaos Forest?

In the case of Chaos Forest, this one leads to the Roots of Truth, which is yet another island full of puzzles. Follow the long chain of Abysses to the end, and you might just get something worthwhile, as is the case with specific ones that unlock elemental magic.

So do not stop here. The chain keeps going, and the rewards get better. Make sure you have also checked our Crimson Desert All Sanctum Locations guide to make sure you are not missing any Abyss content nearby.

Every Abyss has an Abyss Nexus, and they are usually floating high above areas in Pywel that do not have any fast travel points at all. So exploring on foot and looking up is always worth it.
