How to Get the Marni Laser Helmet & Upgrade It in Crimson Desert

Learn exactly how to get the Marni Laser Helmet in Crimson Desert, how to use it, and how to upgrade it to the Kuku Marni Laser Helm with 3 laser shots and better defense.

TL;DR

  • The Marni Laser Helmet is a free world pickup at Marni’s Masterium in southeast Delesyia — no quest required.
  • It lets you lock onto enemies and fire explosive laser beams by pressing L2 + R2.
  • The base version has 1 laser charge and a 10-second cooldown.
  • Upgrade it to the Kuku Marni Laser Helm for 3 charges, refinable defense, and real endgame power.
  • The upgrade is crafted by Grimnir at the Kilnden Workshop in Hernand.
  • Go after this after finishing Chapter 5 at the earliest.

The Marni Laser Helmet is one of the most unique pieces of gear in all of Crimson Desert. It protects your head like a regular helmet, but it also lets you shoot explosive laser beams from your eyes at locked-on enemies. Yes, really. The community calls it the “Iron Man helmet,” and honestly, that tracks.

Getting it takes some travel and a little nerve. Upgrading it takes a bit more work. This guide covers both — where to find it, how to fire it, and exactly what you need to craft the upgraded Kuku Marni Laser Helm.

What Is the Marni Laser Helmet?

The Marni Laser Helm is a special piece of headgear that doubles as an offensive weapon. It has a base defense stat of 4 and grants Daze Immunity. Its main feature is a multi-target lock-on laser that you activate manually in combat.

The base version fires 1 laser shot per use with a 10-second cooldown. It cannot be refined, so its defense stays low as the game scales up. The upgraded version — the Kuku Marni Laser Helm — fixes both of those problems. It can be refined for higher defense and fires 3 laser shots instead of just 1.

When Should You Go After the Marni Laser Helmet?

Don’t rush this one too early. The helmet is in Delesyia, which is one of the most hostile regions in the game. Mechanized dragonflies patrol the whole area. They shoot laser beams, chase you relentlessly, and hit hard if your defense is low.

Completing at least Chapter 5 before heading out is strongly recommended. By then your health, defense, and damage output are in a much better place for surviving the trip. If you want to know how long it takes to reach that point in the story, check out our how long to beat guide.

Marni Laser Helmet Location — Where to Find It

The helmet is not tied to any quest. It’s a free world pickup, but you need to reach Marni’s Masterium first.

Marni’s Masterium is a large cliff-top fortress on the southeastern coast of Delesyia, south of Mount Benus. If you’re still in Hernand, ride east through Demeniss and then into Delesyia. The fortress sits right at the bottom-right corner of the Delesyia map section.

When you arrive, the entire area is hostile from the start. There are golem enemies patrolling the courtyard plus swarms of mechanized dragonflies everywhere. Don’t try to fight your way through everything. Instead, climb up the cliffside along the coast to slip into the area with less detection.

Once you’re inside, go through the main gate and head left along the main path. Keep walking through the inner gates until you spot an archway on the left side. Step through it, then look left. The Marni Laser Helmet is sitting on a table inside this small workshop room. Interact with it to pick it up.

One important note: if you try to grab it while enemies are still actively aggroed on you, you won’t be able to pick it up. Crouch and wait nearby until they stop searching, or clear enough of them first. A large golem patrols the main courtyard and absorbs massive punishment — avoid it if you can.

The Tauria Curved Sword from the Crowcaller boss fight at the end of Chapter 5 is excellent for dealing with the mechanized dragonflies. Its heavy attack sends crows that fly up to airborne targets, making the approach to the fortress much easier.

How to Use the Marni Laser Helmet

Once you have it, using the helmet takes a couple of steps.

  1. Open your inventory and equip the Marni Laser Helm in the helmet slot, just like any other headgear.
  2. Hold Right on the D-Pad to open the Special Equipment radial menu.
  3. Select the Marni Laser Helm from the right side of the wheel.
  4. In combat, press and hold L2 + R2 at the same time. The helmet enters a targeting phase and automatically locks onto nearby enemies — you’ll see targeting boxes appear around each one.
  5. Release both triggers to fire. The laser fires at every marked target simultaneously.

The base version has 1 charge and a 10-second cooldown between shots. Pick your moment carefully. Don’t release the triggers until you’ve fully confirmed your target locks, or you’ll waste the shot on the wrong enemy. The cooldown on the base version is short, but the 1-shot limit means timing still matters.

How to Upgrade the Marni Laser Helmet to the Kuku Marni Laser Helm

The Kuku Marni Laser Helm is the version you actually want for serious combat. It goes from 1 laser shot to 3, and you can refine it at a blacksmith to push its defense stat much higher.

All crafting happens with Grimnir at the Kilnden Workshop in Hernand. You’ll need the following materials before you can craft it.

Step 1 — Get the Kuku Marni Laser Helm Blueprint

First, unlock the Witch of Wisdom. Once she’s available, complete the Sanctum of Benediction, which is located beneath the “E” in “Hernand” on the map. Clearing the sanctum causes the Witch of Wisdom to reward you with the Kuku Marni Laser Helm Blueprint directly. You cannot see the crafting option in Grimnir’s shop without this blueprint. Our Sanctum of Benediction puzzle solution guide covers the full walkthrough.

Step 2 — Craft the Enhanced Kuku Pot

You also need an Enhanced Kuku Pot to house the upgrade. To get it:

  • Again unlock the Witch of Wisdom (same prerequisite).
  • Complete the Sanctum of Absolution. This one is tough. It includes a boss fight against Antumbra’s Sword, so come well prepared. Cleansing the sanctum rewards you with the Enhanced Kuku Pot Blueprint. See our Sanctum of Absolution puzzle solution for help.
  • Take 1x Kuku Pot and 1x Abyss Cell to Grimnir at the Kilnden Workshop to craft the Enhanced Kuku Pot.

If you need Abyss Cells, our guide on how to get Abyss Cells in Crimson Desert will help.

Step 3 — Get the Power Core (Gate of Collapse)

Fast travel to any Abyss Nexus point on the map. Stone Worm Guardians spawn near these locations. Use Axiom Force (R3) on a worm’s eye to kill it, then press Triangle (or Y on Xbox) to seal the dropped Power Core into your Kuku Pot.

The catch: the Power Core drop is completely random. You might not get the Gate of Collapse variant on your first kill. Save your game before you start farming them. If the wrong core drops, reload and try again.

Step 4 — Get 3 Electrical Components

Head to the Blue Thicket in eastern Delesyia. Large robotic sentinels patrol this area. Defeat them, then use Axiom Force (R3) on their components and press Seal (Triangle/Y) to harvest an Electrical Component into your Kuku Pot. You need 3 total, so expect to clear the area more than once.

If the robots have already been destroyed by world NPCs, you can sometimes crouch near the wreckage and harvest parts without triggering a fight. Their patrol paths are predictable, so stealth farming is viable here.

Step 5 — Get the Core of Transgression

This one requires the Witch of Humility to be unlocked first. Once you have her, complete the Sanctum of Oblation in Delesyia. Face the sanctum and use Blinding Flash (L1 + R1 + L1) on the center blue crystal. Tap L1 each time the dial is about to hit a blue crystal. Completing this gets you the Core of Transgression.

Check out our guide on how to use Blinding Flash if you haven’t unlocked that ability yet.

Step 6 — Craft the Kuku Marni Laser Helm

Bring everything to Grimnir at the Kilnden Workshop in Hernand:

  • Kuku Marni Laser Helm Blueprint
  • Enhanced Kuku Pot
  • Base Marni Laser Helm
  • Power Core (Gate of Collapse)
  • Core of Transgression
  • 3x Electrical Components

Grimnir assembles the Kuku Marni Laser Helm for you. Once done, equip and assign it exactly like the base version. The result is 3 laser charges per use, refinable defense, and one of the strongest special equipment options available in the game. Need help with the workshop? The Kuku version has a defense range of 2 to 21 across 11 refinement levels. At max refinement, it’s one of the better defensive helmets in the game on top of its offensive utility.

Tips for Using the Kuku Marni Laser Helm Effectively

The laser is a high-impact burst tool, not a spam ability. Even with 3 charges, you want to use it at the right moment — when multiple enemies are grouped, or when a boss briefly exposes itself after a big attack.

Daze Immunity is one of the more underrated bonuses. Many tough enemies and bosses in the later game rely on stagger and crowd control. The helmet passively counters this, which means you stay in control during chaotic fights.

Don’t fire until your target locks are confirmed. The targeting boxes tell you which enemies are marked. If you let go too early, you waste a charge.
