What Are the Kuru Cogni Pets in AION 2?

The Kuru Worker, Kuru Tinkerer, and Kuru Overseer are three related Cogni pets in AION 2. They share the same creature family but are counted as separate pets in your collection. Each one gives its own passive stat bonuses, contributes to your Cogni Genus Insight board, and works as a rideable mount.

If you are trying to build out your Cogni collection, these three are a great group to target together. Their soul-dropping monsters often share the same zones, making it easy to farm multiple pets in one session. For a full overview of how Cogni pets stack up in AION 2, see our AION 2 Best Pets to Farm for Stats guide.

Kuru Pet Insight Stats (All Three Pets)

All three Kuru pets are part of the Cogni genus. Every Cogni pet gives the same stats at each Pet Insight level. Here is the full breakdown:

    • Pet Insight Lv. 1 — HP +10. Unlocks: Mount. Grants 500 Cogni Genus Insight EXP. (Needs 25 more souls to reach Lv. 2)
    • Pet Insight Lv. 2 — HP +20, Critical Hit +1. Unlocks: Mount Glide. Grants 250 Cogni Genus Insight EXP. (Needs 75 more souls to reach Lv. 3)
    • Pet Insight Lv. 3 — HP +30, Critical Hit +2, Might +1. Unlocks: Transformation. Grants 250 Cogni Genus Insight EXP.

These bonuses apply to each pet individually. So if you max all three Kuru pets, you get that HP, Critical Hit, and Might bonus three times over — stacked permanently. This is exactly why collecting multiple Cogni pets matters for long-term progression. See our AION 2 List of All Pets for a complete picture of the Cogni pool.

Kuru Worker: How to Get It and Where Souls Drop

Monster Soul Drops — Kuru Worker

The Kuru Worker soul drops from four monsters across Verteron and Altgard:

    • Tolbas Kuru Worker — Level 26 Normal monster. Found in Verteron. 1 spawn point.
    • Harsh Kuru Tinkerer — Level 28 Normal monster. Found in Verteron. 8 spawn points.
    • Eternal Kuru Worker — Level 50 Normal monster. Found in Verteron. 4 spawn points.
    • Kuru Worker — Level 50 Normal monster. Found in Altgard. 2 spawn points.

The best early farm for the Kuru Worker soul is the Tolbas Kuru Worker in Verteron at level 26. If you are leveling through that zone, you will encounter these naturally. The Harsh Kuru Tinkerer at level 28 also drops the Kuru Worker soul and has 8 spawn points, making it one of the most efficient spots. Verteron is the Elyos starting zone, so this is a great farm for that faction. For Asmodians, the level 50 Kuru Worker in Altgard is the primary option.

Chest and Merchant Sources — Kuru Worker

If you prefer not to farm open-world monsters, the Kuru Worker can also be obtained from:

    • Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound) — 1.79% chance per draw
    • Mysterious Pet Chest (Bound) — 0.198% chance per draw
    • Growth Pet Chest (Bound) — 0.395% chance per draw
    • Black Cloud Merchants — Available in the Special and Pets tabs (rotates)
    • My Reliable Friends II Achievement — One-time reward
    • Nightmare Altar Ascension Trial — Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme difficulties
    • Sanctum of Loathing Ascension Trial — Easy and Normal difficulties

Kuru Tinkerer: How to Get It and Where Souls Drop

    Kuru Tinkerer

Monster Soul Drops — Kuru Tinkerer

The Kuru Tinkerer soul drops from monsters found in Verteron across two key farming areas:

    • Tolbas Kuru Tinkerer — Level 26 Normal monster. Found in Eastern Tolbas Forest in Verteron.
    • Eternal Kuru Tinkerer — Level 50 Normal monster. Found in Eastern Isle in Verteron.
    • Kuru Tinkerer — Level 50 Normal monster. Found in Altgard.

The Eastern Tolbas Forest in Verteron is the go-to early farm for the Kuru Tinkerer soul. Both the Tolbas Kuru Worker and Tolbas Kuru Tinkerer share this general area, which means Elyos players can efficiently farm souls for both the Kuru Worker and Kuru Tinkerer in the same session. Two pets, one zone. That is good time efficiency early in the game.

Chest and Merchant Sources — Kuru Tinkerer

    • Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound)
    • Mysterious Pet Chest (Bound)
    • Growth Pet Chest (Bound)
    • Black Cloud Merchants
    • My Reliable Friends II Achievement
    • Nightmare Altar Ascension Trial (Easy, Normal, Hard, Extreme)
    • Sanctum of Loathing Ascension Trials

The chest drop rates and sources are the same across all three Kuru pets. If you are opening Pet Chests: Cogni for one, you might just get another Kuru variant as a bonus.

Kuru Overseer: How to Get It and Where Souls Drop

    Kuru Overseer
    Kuru Overseer

Monster Soul Drops — Kuru Overseer

The Kuru Overseer is a higher-level Kuru variant. Its souls drop from two level 50 monsters:

    • Kuru Overseer — Level 50 Normal monster. Found in Immortal Isle in Altgard. 12 spawn points.
    • Eternal Kuru Overseer — Level 50 Normal monster. Found in Verteron.

The Kuru Overseer in Immortal Isle, Altgard, is the best farm spot. With 12 spawn points, it is one of the most densely packed level 50 soul farms in the game. The Kuru Worker and Kuru Tinkerer also spawn at level 50 in the same Altgard area, so high-level players can grind souls for all three Kuru pets in the same location. That makes Immortal Isle a top-tier farming destination for Cogni pet souls at endgame.

The Kuru Overseer soul drops at 100% per kill, as confirmed by in-game reward tables. This means every kill of the Kuru Overseer monster drops one soul.

Chest and Merchant Sources — Kuru Overseer

    • Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound)
    • Mysterious Pet Chest (Bound)
    • Growth Pet Chest (Bound)
    • Black Cloud Merchants
    • My Reliable Friends II Achievement
    • Nightmare Altar Ascension Trial (Easy, Normal, Hard, Extreme)
    • Sanctum of Loathing Ascension Trials

    Kuru Pet Soul Farming Tips

Here are some practical tips to make your Kuru pet soul farming faster:

    • Early game (Elyos): Head to Eastern Tolbas Forest in Verteron at around level 25 to 28. You can farm souls for both Kuru Worker and Kuru Tinkerer in the same area.
    • Early game (Asmodians): Look for Kuru Worker and Kuru Tinkerer monsters in Altgard at level 50, or wait until you are higher level and visit Immortal Isle.
    • Endgame farm: Immortal Isle in Altgard has 12 Kuru Overseer spawns, plus Kuru Worker and Kuru Tinkerer in the same zone. This is the best single-session farm for all three Kuru pets.
    • Level penalty: Stay within 10 levels of the monster you are farming. If you are too high level for lower-level mobs, soul drops fall sharply. At character level 45, all monsters scale to 45, which resets the drop penalty.
    • Check the Source tab: In the Pets menu, click the pet you want and open the Source tab. The game shows you exactly where the soul drops and marks the spawn location on the map.

For more general tips on farming pets efficiently, see our AION 2 How to Get Pets Fast guide.

How Many Souls Do You Need to Max Each Kuru Pet?

The soul cost is the same for every regular pet in AION 2. Here is the total per Kuru pet:

    • 5 souls — Unlock the pet (Pet Insight Lv. 1)
    • 25 more souls — Reach Pet Insight Lv. 2
    • 75 more souls — Reach Pet Insight Lv. 3 (Max)
    • 105 souls total — Per pet to fully max

To max all three Kuru pets, you need 315 souls in total. Given that the Kuru Overseer drops a soul at 100% per kill, and Immortal Isle has 12 spawn points, this is a very achievable target at endgame.

How to Unlock Kuru Pet Transformation

All three Kuru pets unlock Transformation at Pet Insight Lv. 3. Here is how it works:

    • Requirement: The Kuru pet (Worker, Tinkerer, or Overseer) must be your active equipped pet.
    • Requirement: The pet must be at Pet Insight Lv. 3.
    • Item needed: Empathy Candy — available from the Festival Shop for 20 Centuryroot Tokens, or earned as a Pet Collection Status reward.
    • Duration: 5 minutes.
    • Rules: You cannot mount during the transformation. Cancel the transformation before switching to a different pet.

For more detail on how the Pet Insight system works, check our AION 2 Pet Selection Chest Guide.

Are the Kuru Pets Worth Getting?

Yes — all three are worth adding to your collection, especially if you are building toward strong Cogni Genus Insight milestones.

What makes the Kuru family stand out is that their souls drop across a wide level range. You can start farming Kuru Worker and Tinkerer souls as early as level 26 in Verteron. That is much earlier than most Cogni pets, which makes them easy to unlock naturally during leveling. The Kuru Overseer comes later at level 50 but has excellent spawn density at Immortal Isle.

Owning more Cogni pets fills your Cogni Genus Insight board faster. The board rewards you with passive Critical Damage boosts the more you complete it. Every maxed Cogni pet stacks HP +30, Critical Hit +2, and Might +1 on your character permanently. Three Kuru pets maxed adds up fast. For how this fits into the bigger progression picture, see our AION 2 Endgame Guide.
