What Are the Aullaeu Shaman and Aultross’s Doppelganger?

The Aullaeu Shaman and Aultross’s Doppelganger are two Cogni pets in Aion 2. They both belong to the 41-pet Cogni collection and share the same owned effect bonuses as every other Cogni pet. Collecting and leveling them pushes your Cogni Genus Insight forward, which passively increases your HP, Critical Hit, and Might stats permanently.

What makes these two pets interesting together is how different their acquisition methods are. Aullaeu Shaman is one of the most straightforward pets to farm in the entire game — its soul drops at 100% every time you kill the right monster. Aultross’s Doppelganger, on the other hand, has no open-world monster source at all. You can only get it through chests, the Black Cloud Merchants, or Ascension Trials.

Cogni Pet Stats: What Do These Pets Give You?

All Cogni pets share the same owned effect bonuses at each Pet Insight level. Here is what both the Aullaeu Shaman and Aultross’s Doppelganger give you when owned and leveled:

How Many Souls Do You Need?

The soul requirements are the same for every regular pet in Aion 2:

5 souls to unlock the pet (Pet Insight Lv. 1)
25 more souls to reach Pet Insight Lv. 2
75 more souls to reach Pet Insight Lv. 3 (max)

That is 100 souls total after unlocking to hit the maximum level. For Aullaeu Shaman, with its 100% soul drop rate from the matching monster, this means exactly 105 monster kills to fully max the pet. What Is the Aullaeu Shaman?

The Aullaeu Shaman is a Common Cogni pet available to both Elyos and Asmodian players. It cannot be traded and has no required level. Its soul source is the Aullaeu Apprentice Shaman — a level 27 monster found in Aullaeu Village inside the Verteron region. Because this is an early-level monster with a 100% soul drop rate, the Aullaeu Shaman is one of the simplest Cogni pets to collect in the entire game.

Where to Farm Aullaeu Shaman Souls

There is one main farming monster for this pet:

Aullaeu Apprentice Shaman — Level 27, located in Aullaeu Village, Verteron. Soul drop rate: 100% per kill.

Every kill gives you a soul. No RNG, no bad luck streaks. At 5 kills you unlock the pet, and at 105 total kills it is fully maxed. Aullaeu Village is an active area in Verteron with plenty of Aullaeu-type monsters nearby, so you can knock out quests and other farming goals while grinding souls here.

To pin the exact spawn location before you head out, open the Pets menu in-game, click the Aullaeu Shaman, and select the Source tab. It shows a map marker pointing directly to where the Aullaeu Apprentice Shaman spawns in Aullaeu Village.

Aultross’s Doppelganger is a Common Cogni pet in Aion 2. It has an eye-catching name and a distinctive appearance, but the key thing to know right away is that it has no open-world monster soul source. You cannot farm its souls by killing a specific creature in the field. This puts it in the same category as pets like Varg Berserker, Elite Dratona, and several other Cogni pets that are chest-and-shop-only when it comes to soul farming.

That does not make it a bad pick — it still gives the same Cogni stats as every other pet in this family. But it does mean your approach to collecting it is different. You need to rely on chests, the Black Cloud Merchants, or Ascension Trial rewards to build up souls and level it.

How to Get Aultross’s Doppelganger

Because there is no monster to farm, all your routes go through these sources:

Black Cloud Merchants – Check the rotating Special and Pets tabs every time you log in. This is your most reliable consistent path to getting the pet or its souls without spending chest resources.
Mysterious Pet Chest (Bound) – Can drop this pet at random from any genus.
Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound) – Targets Cogni pets specifically. A 2.44% chance per chest for any individual Cogni pet.
Growth Pet Chest (Bound) – Another chest source that can yield this pet.

Farm Aullaeu Shaman Early While Leveling

The Aullaeu Apprentice Shaman is a level 27 monster in Verteron. If you are still leveling your character and questing through Verteron, this is a natural farming stop. Since Aultross’s Doppelganger has no monster to farm, the Black Cloud Merchants are your best regular route. Log in, check the Pets tab, and if the Doppelganger is available, grab it. You save yourself chest resources that way. The shop rotates hourly, so persistent checking pays off over time.

Run Ascension Trials Weekly for Both

Both pets can drop from Nightmare Altar and Sanctum of Loathing Ascension Trials on any difficulty. Running your three weekly entries gives you a passive chance at both pets without any extra effort. After unlocking Aultross’s Doppelganger through the Black Cloud Merchants or a chest, leveling it past Lv. 1 requires souls. The Pet Soul Chest: Cogni is your best source for these. Duplicate Pets Convert to Souls Automatically

If you already own either pet and receive it again from a chest or the Black Cloud Merchants, it becomes a soul instead of a wasted duplicate. Every extra soul helps push your Pet Insight level higher. Never discard extras.

How These Pets Feed Into Cogni Genus Insight

Every Cogni pet you collect and level contributes Genus Insight EXP to your Cogni Genus Insight pool. Maxing both the Aullaeu Shaman and Aultross’s Doppelganger fully adds 1,000 Genus Insight EXP each, for a total of 2,000 EXP across the two pets.

As your Cogni Genus Insight level rises, you unlock slots where you can roll powerful stat bonuses using Cogni Soul Crystals. These crystals drop when you kill monsters whose matching pet is already maxed in your collection. So once the Aullaeu Shaman is at Lv. 3, every subsequent Aullaeu kill gives you a Soul Crystal instead — another reason to max pets as fast as possible.
