TL;DR
- Dragon Gate Substitute is a Common Anomaly Commission in the Bridge Crossings area of Hethereau.
- The commission marker is on a rooftop — many players miss it because it is not at street level.
- Head to the NEW WAY building on Torchwood Avenue, climb to the roof, and enter the anomaly zone.
- Defeat the Tidal Ascension enemies (anomaly carps) to complete the commission.
- Rewards include the Rank A Arc “A Time Will Come,” Annulith, Beetle Coins, Fons, and a Scale Pattern.
- This is a low-difficulty White border commission — a balanced starter team is enough to clear it.
What Is the Dragon Gate Substitute Anomaly Commission in NTE?
Dragon Gate Substitute is one of the early Common Anomaly Commissions in Neverness to Everness. It is set in the Bridge Crossings region of Hethereau and involves a set of anomalous carp-like creatures that have appeared near a rooftop in the city.
The commission itself is short and straightforward. You go to the location, enter the anomaly zone, fight the enemies, and collect your rewards. The main reason so many players struggle to find it is that the commission marker sits on a rooftop rather than at street level — an easy thing to miss while exploring.
If you are working your way through all Anomaly Commissions in the game, our full Anomaly Zones guide for NTE has everything you need to track them all down.
Dragon Gate Substitute Location in NTE
The Dragon Gate Substitute commission is found in the Bridge Crossings area, on top of the building labeled “NEW WAY” on Torchwood Avenue. Some guides refer to it as the Novus Vehicle Dealership building — it is the same location.
The commission icon will not be visible from the ground. You need to actually get up to the rooftop for it to appear on your minimap. Once you are close to the right spot on the roof, the Anomaly Commission icon will show up and you can accept it.

How to Reach the Rooftop
The fastest way to reach the rooftop is to use a nearby fast travel point. Look for the closest ReroRero Phone Booth or Wertheimer Tower teleport point in Bridge Crossings, then use your bike or parkour traversal to climb up to the roof of the NEW WAY building.
If you are not sure how to navigate the map or unlock teleport points, check out our guide on how to unlock all map areas in NTE.
How to Complete Dragon Gate Substitute
Step 1 — Accept the Commission on the Rooftop
Climb to the rooftop of the NEW WAY building in Bridge Crossings. Once you are in the right spot, the Anomaly Commission icon will appear. Accept the commission to begin the encounter.
Step 2 — Approach the Kites to Trigger the Anomaly
When you enter the highlighted anomaly zone on the rooftop, you will notice a set of floating kites in the sky above. Walk toward the kites. As you get close, the pole holding them will disappear and the kites will slowly float down — these are the Tidal Ascension anomalies taking shape.
Wait for their HP bars to appear above them. That is your signal that the fight has started.
If the fight does not trigger immediately, try stepping fully into the glowing anomaly area again. Sometimes a second pass through the zone is needed to start the encounter.
Step 3 — Defeat All Tidal Ascension Enemies
You need to defeat all of the Tidal Ascension anomaly carps to complete the commission. There are three of them.
This is a White border, lower-difficulty Class Phenomenon anomaly, so a balanced starter team should be more than enough to handle it. That said, the enemies do use wave-based attacks that can chip away at your HP if you stand in one spot. Stay mobile during the fight and dodge whenever you see an attack incoming.
Use your strongest Arc skills as soon as your meter fills to take them down efficiently. For tips on combat, check out our guides on how to parry and riposte in NTE and how to break enemies in NTE.
Step 4 — Interact with the Rainbow-Colored Scale
Once all three Tidal Ascension enemies are defeated, a rainbow-colored scale will appear on the rooftop. Interact with it to seal the anomaly and officially finish the commission.
A clear-screen banner will appear confirming completion. The Anomaly Commission entry in your journal will shift to a completed state and the rooftop marker will disappear from the Bridge Crossings map. Your rewards will drop into your inventory immediately.
If the commission still shows as available after the fight, leave the area and reopen the map. The icon should clear on the next refresh.

Dragon Gate Substitute Rewards
Dragon Gate Substitute is one of the lower-tier commissions in terms of difficulty, but it still gives a useful set of rewards for early-game progression:
- Arc “A Time Will Come” (Rank A)
- Hunter Level EXP ×120
- Annulith ×10
- Scale Pattern ×1
- Fons ×6,000
- Bronze Carrota ×40
- U-00NE ×10
- Beetle Coin ×3,000
- Anomaly Material Selection Box I ×2
The standout reward is the Arc “A Time Will Come.” Arcs are the equippable abilities that shape your team’s combat kit, so picking these up through Anomaly Commissions is one of the best ways to gear your characters without spending pulls. To understand how Arcs work and which ones are worth using, see our Arc weapon tier list for NTE.
The Scale Pattern is a crafting material shared with a few other early Bridge Crossings commissions. Hang on to it as it feeds into related upgrades. If you need more Annulith for character progression, our guide on how to get Annulith fast in NTE covers all the best methods.
Tips for Dragon Gate Substitute
- Look up, not around. The commission is on a rooftop. If you are searching at street level, you will never find it.
- Stay mobile during the fight. The Tidal Ascension enemies use wave attacks. Do not stand still or you will take unnecessary damage.
- Use Arc skills early. This fight is short. Pop your strongest Arc abilities as soon as you can to end it quickly.
- Step fully into the zone if nothing triggers. If the carps do not appear after approaching the kites, walk through the glowing anomaly area again.
- Interact with the scale after the fight. The commission is not complete until you interact with the rainbow-colored scale. Do not forget this final step.
What Are Anomaly Commissions in NTE?
Anomaly Commissions are special missions scattered across Hethereau where you track down and deal with supernatural entities called Anomalies. Some involve combat encounters like Dragon Gate Substitute. Others require you to solve puzzles or interact with objects in the world.
Completing Anomaly Commissions is one of the best ways to collect Arcs without spending any pulls. Every standard S-rank Arc in the game can be obtained through commissions, which means you can build out your team’s weapon kit completely for free by clearing them consistently.
To find commissions easily, open the Anomagram from your World Map. It shows the rough location of every Anomaly Commission available to you.
