LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight: All Towers & How To Access Them

Find all 9 radio tower locations in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Learn how to access them with Batgirl, how the hacking minigame works, and what each tower reveals on your map.

TL;DR

  • There are 9 radio towers in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight — one per district across 4 islands.
  • You cannot access towers until you unlock Batgirl in Chapter 4 (Firefly mission).
  • Use Batgirl’s Hackarang on the flashing panel near each tower to start the hacking minigame. Navigate to the center to complete it.
  • Each activated tower reveals every collectible and point of interest in that district on your map.
  • Best strategy: finish the full story first, then activate all towers and do a sweep — some POIs need Talia al Ghul, who joins very late.
  • Towers are purely for map reveal — they do not count as collectibles or toward any trophy.

What Are the Towers in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight?

As you glide across Gotham City in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you will spot large red and white radio towers perched on top of buildings throughout the city. Early in the game they appear locked on your map with a locked icon. There is no puzzle to solve, no key to find — they are simply waiting for the right character.

These towers work exactly like the radio towers or sync points you might know from other open-world games. Activate one and it instantly reveals every collectible, side activity, crime encounter, fast travel point, and point of interest in that entire district in a single shot. For completionists chasing 100%, these towers are the single most useful thing you can do early in the post-story cleanup.

Gotham is split across 4 islands and 9 districts. There is exactly one tower per district, giving you 9 towers to find and hack in total.

How To Access Towers – You Need Batgirl

The towers are locked behind story progression. Specifically, they require Batgirl and her unique Hackarang gadget. No other character in the game can interact with the tower panels.

Batgirl unlocks during the Firefly mission at the start of Chapter 4. During the Wayne Industries masquerade ball sequence, Barbara Gordon hacks the security system to raise the shutters and get Batman through. After that mission is complete, she becomes fully playable in the open world.

Once Batgirl is available, here is exactly how to hack a tower:

  • Glide or grapple to the rooftop where the tower stands. The towers are tall red and white structures — easy to spot once you are nearby.
  • Look for the flashing panel near the base of the tower. This is the hack point.
  • As Batgirl, aim her Hackarang at the panel and throw it. This triggers the hacking minigame.
  • The hacking minigame is simple. Navigate your cursor toward the center of the puzzle. It is the same mechanic used in several story mission puzzle sections.
  • Once you reach the center, the hack completes and the tower activates. A signal pulse spreads out across the surrounding district on your map and all icons appear.

When Should You Activate the Towers?

The moment Batgirl unlocks in Chapter 4, you technically can start hacking towers. But the best time to do it is after you finish the entire story.

Here is why. Some points of interest revealed by the towers require Talia al Ghul, who is one of the last characters to become available. If you activate all towers mid-story and try to clear every icon, you will hit locked activities that you cannot complete yet. This wastes time and breaks your flow.

The cleanest approach is: finish all six chapters, unlock the full character roster, then go district by district — activate the tower and immediately sweep that area clean while the full map is fresh. This method is far more efficient than trying to clear things in chunks across multiple visits.

All 9 Tower Locations in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

Below are all nine tower locations, organised by island and district. All towers look the same — large red and white radio towers on top of buildings. Once you are in roughly the right area, use your scan ability and look up. They are not hidden, just elevated.

Tricorner Island

Tower 1 – Tricorner District

Tricorner Island
Tricorner Island

Located south of the Bat-Mite shop on Tricorner Island. This is the southernmost district in the game and one of the first areas you explore. The tower sits on a rooftop in the southern section of the district. It is a straightforward climb or glide to reach it.

South Island

South Island contains four districts and therefore four towers. This is the most densely packed island for tower hunting.

Tower 2 – Old Gotham South

Tower 2 Old Gotham South
Tower 2 Old Gotham South

Found in the center of Old Gotham South, to the east of the park. Head toward the middle of the district and look for the tower on a mid-rise building east of the green space. Wayne Tower is visible in the background as a navigation landmark.

Tower 3 – Old Gotham North

Tower 3 Old Gotham North
Tower 3 Old Gotham North

Positioned directly south of Wayne Tower. If you can see Wayne Tower, the tower is just below it on a nearby rooftop. This is one of the easiest to find thanks to the unmistakable Wayne Tower landmark right above it.

Tower 4 – Old Gotham West

Sitting on the building immediately to the east of the Flugelheim Museum. If you have already done the Flugelheim mission, you will know the museum well. Glide east from the Flugelheim building and you will land right on the tower rooftop. For more on the Flugelheim area, see our Flugelheim – All Collectibles guide.

Tower 5 – The Cauldron South

Located on the southern border of The Cauldron, beside Metro Steel and Malone Inc. The Cauldron is one of the more industrial districts. Look along the southern edge of the area for the tower on a factory-style rooftop near the two named buildings.

Central Island

Central Island holds two districts, each with its own tower.

Tower 6 – The Cauldron North (Ace Chemicals)

The Cauldron North

Found on a rooftop north-west of the SubWayne fast travel station, beside the Ace Chemicals sign on the main road. Ace Chemicals is a major landmark in this district — the tower is right next to its signage. If you have done the Red Hood Gang mission, you already know this area well. Check our Red Hood Gang – All Collectibles guide for more on this district.

Tower 7 – Gotham Village (Robinson Park)

Gotham Village Robinson Park
Gotham Village Robinson Park

Perched atop the tallest skyscraper in Gotham Village, beside the Ambassador and Magnus buildings north of the bridge leading to Ace Chemicals. This is one of the more elevated towers in the game. Use Batman’s glider or Batgirl’s grapple to reach the peak of the skyscraper. The tower is clearly visible from the air once you are in the right area. Robinson Park itself is the green district featuring the Botanical Gardens from the Poison Ivy mission — see our Poison Ivy – All Collectibles guide for more context on this area.

North Island

North Island is Gotham’s upper district zone and contains two towers across two districts.

Tower 8 – Newtown

Newtown

Placed on the Gotham Towers building in the center of Newtown. The Gotham Towers building is a distinctive high-rise in the heart of the Newtown district. Head to the center of the district and look for the tallest building — the tower is on top.

Tower 9 – East End (Amusement Mile)

East End Amusement Mile

Located on the building directly north of the SubWayne fast travel station, beside the hospital. Amusement Mile is the easternmost district and this tower is near its main SubWayne. Use the SubWayne as your starting point and look north to the building next to the hospital.

  • Newtown – On the Gotham Towers building in the center of Newtown.
  • East End (Amusement Mile) – North of the SubWayne, beside the hospital.

What Do the Towers Actually Reveal?

Once a tower is activated, every icon in that district appears on your map at once. This includes:

  • Riddler puzzle boxes and Cluemaster puzzle rooms
  • WayneTech Caches in the open world
  • Crime locations and dispatch events
  • AR Trial locations (combat and racing)
  • Side activity storylines (The Falcone Fortune, Case of Waylon Jones, and Puzzle Rooms)
  • SubWayne fast travel station puzzles
  • Hidden collectible locations

One important note: some items may still appear locked even after tower activation. Certain collectibles and activities require specific characters or traversal abilities to interact with. A locked icon on the map means you have the right location but not yet the right tool or character. Come back once you have the full roster unlocked.

For SubWayne fast travel help, see our Batcave Guide for navigation tips across Gotham. Also check when the Batmobile becomes available for faster district travel with our When Can You Drive the Batmobile guide.

Do Towers Count Toward 100% Completion?

No. The towers themselves are tools for map reveal only. Hacking all 9 towers does not count as a collectible, does not unlock a trophy or achievement, and does not appear in your completion percentage. They are purely a quality-of-life system that makes finding everything else easier.

That said, skipping them makes 100% far harder than it needs to be. There is no reason not to activate every tower once Batgirl is available. For a full breakdown of everything that does count toward completion, see our LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight – Achievement and Trophy Guide.

Tips for Finding and Hacking Towers Faster

  • Unlock the glider first. The towers are on rooftops and the glider makes reaching them significantly faster. See our How to Unlock the Glider guide.
  • Use wind tunnels. Gotham has wind tunnels scattered across its rooftops. Gliding through 10 of them also counts toward an achievement, so combine tower hunting with this naturally.
  • Switch to Batgirl before approaching towers. You cannot interact with a tower as Batman. Save yourself the walk back by switching characters before you climb up.
  • Do one island at a time. Activate all towers on one island, sweep every revealed collectible there, then move to the next. This prevents leaving loose ends scattered across the map.
  • Use the Batmobile for ground-level district navigation between towers to save time.
