Where Is the Five Finger Mountain Valley Ruins Puzzle?

The ruins are located in the northwest of Pailune, specifically northwest of Silver Wolf Mountain. On your map, look for the question mark icon in that area — that is where you need to head.

The ruins sit on top of a steep mountain. When you get close, do not stop at the base. Keep climbing. The puzzle area is at the summit. The climb itself is not a puzzle, but the verticality can trip players up if they wander around at ground level.

Pailune is also home to several other challenging puzzles. If you are doing a puzzle run through the region, also see our guides for the Hidden Chamber of Wisdom puzzle and the Deepfog Basin Dragon puzzle.

How the Five Finger Mountain Valley Ruins Puzzle Works

Once you reach the top, you will see three large gates. Behind each gate is a rotating statue. There is also a large central statue positioned between two of the gates — this is your answer key. Look at the weapons the central statue is holding before you do anything else.

To open the gates, you need to push a heavy, box-shaped contraption along a track. Push it as far as it will go — all the way to the “Max” position. Once it reaches that point, the gates swing open, giving you a window to work with the statues.

Here is the catch: the contraption immediately starts sliding back once you let go. The gates will close again before long. So you need to act fast.

After pushing the box, climb up on top of it. From that elevated position, draw your bow and shoot the statues to rotate them.

  • normal arrow shot rotates the statue slowly.
  • Charged Shot rotates it much faster.

Use Charged Shots whenever possible to save time. If the contraption slides back too far and the gates close, just push it to Max again and continue. You can do this as many times as you need.

Crimson Desert Five Finger Mountain Valley Ruins Puzzle Solution — Correct Statue Positions

There are three statues, one behind each gate. You need to rotate each one to show a specific weapon. The correct order, from left to right, is:

  1. Left statue — Man holding a sword
  2. Middle statue — Man holding a staff and a shield
  3. Right statue — Man holding a hammer

These match the weapons held by the large central statue between the gates. Always check that monument first — it is the answer sitting right in front of you.

Important: Watch for the Middle Statue

The middle statue has two similar positions that are easy to confuse. One shows a man with a shield, and another shows a man with both a shield and a staff. You want the one with both the staff and the shield. Do not stop at the shield-only position.

Important: Center the Statues

Here is a detail that trips up many players. Even if a statue is at the correct weapon angle, the puzzle will not complete unless the statue is also centered properly. There is a slight alignment requirement — the statue needs to be squarely facing forward, not halfway between two positions.

The easiest way to confirm you have it right: the statue’s eyes will glow when you hit the correct, centered angle. If the eyes are not glowing, keep adjusting.

Step-by-Step Summary

  1. Climb to the top of the mountain northwest of Silver Wolf Mountain in Pailune.
  2. Look at the large central statue to confirm the three weapons you need to match.
  3. Push the box contraption all the way to Max to open the gates.
  4. Climb on top of the box.
  5. Use Charged Shots to rotate the left statue until it shows a sword. Wait for the eyes to glow.
  6. Rotate the middle statue to show a staff and a shield (not just a shield). Wait for the eyes to glow.
  7. Rotate the right statue to show a hammer. Wait for the eyes to glow.
  8. If the gate closes, push the contraption to Max again and continue.
  9. Once all three statues are correct and glowing, the puzzle is complete.
  10. Approach the Abyss Cresset to collect your Abyss Artifact.

What Do You Get for Completing the Puzzle?

Once the puzzle is solved, an Abyss Cresset will activate at the site. Interact with it to claim an Abyss Artifact.

Abyss Artifacts are important for character progression in Crimson Desert. They are used in the skill tree to unlock new abilities and boost core stats. Since the Five Finger Mountain Valley location is quite remote, solving this puzzle also gives you a fast-travel point for easy return visits.

Quick Tips for This Puzzle

  • Bring plenty of arrows. Charged Shots eat through your supply quickly. If you are running low, check around the ruins — arrows are often placed near archery puzzles. You can also see our resource-gathering guides to stock up before heading out.
  • Master Charged Shot first. Investing skill points into your archery skills before tackling this puzzle saves a lot of time. See how to get skill points if you need more.
  • Work one statue at a time. Do not try to rotate all three in one run. Focus on the left statue, get it locked in, then move to the middle, then the right.
  • Check the center monument before you start. This one step saves a lot of confusion. The answer is literally right there in the puzzle area.
  • Do not rush after pushing the box. Take a breath, aim carefully, and use Charged Shots. Panic-shooting wastes arrows and time.
